Hey Ron , what props you try and what was the results?
Inquiring minds want to know :)
Hey Cal,

Im running Markys 25P hydromotives.. They are pretty much stock, maybe a tad thinned from being cleaned up by a prop shop... His Sonic originally came with 25P mirages, but he sold them without ever running them on the boat.. So he wanted to run my 25P mirages to wee how much he could gain in top speed.. I had tried a pair of 24P hydromotives before and was not happy at all, but for some odd reason these 25's work real nice! The only visiable difference is these 25's have the flare ring thingie welded on them, where the 24's didnt..

With my 25P mirages, i could get the max rated 4600rpms on a good day.. With these Hydros im getting 4200-4300 on the starboard motor, and 4400 on the port...
So its about a 200-300 rpm loss for the 4 blades, but thats right at what is expected..
As for speeds, with the mirages at 3200rpms i can cruise at 43.5-44mph.. with the hydros at 3200rpm i had a 46 cruise.. What was real nice was 50.5 at 3400 rpm.. But im sure im further on the throttle at 3200 with the hydros than at 3200rpm mirages, so im probably using more gas at the same rpms.. But i guess if i wanted to cruise at 43mph, i would only be at 3000 rpms with the hydros and then would save a pinch of fuel.
On the top end, i only lost 1 mph in back to back tests..
BUT! I did have marky and his cooler on board for the run with the hydro's! That had to be good for ATLEAST a 1mph loss!! :laugher: :laugher: So it really seems i didnt anything on the top end, which also surprised me since i did lose a little RPM..??..

i think we need to get everyone together one day with GOOD digi cameras and just run around and get some pics and videos of each other..??? This past sunday would have been great! Me and Bill were running down towards the cove when we caught up to TWO tugs about a 1/2 mile apart from each other.. We had some sweet rollers as we gained on them, and then some real nice wakes from them.. Talk about air! man ive never ran like that, but it was AWSOME! I think i made the tug guys nervous and they blew the air horn at me.. :laugher: :laugher: :laugher: The ol' Formula handle it nicely tho! The little HaHa running next to me did a nice job too in that rough stuff! ;) :laugher:
hey Marky, it was way better air than that little stuff we hit on the way down to W.Y.C. saturday evening.. That look on your face, and the grip on your hands was priceless.. Did i make you nervous?!  :laugher: :laugher:

Maybe we'll get one more nice weekend this season and give it a shot?? I got some more gas to burn in the tank, and my insurance layup period doesnt start until Novermber! :winker: :winker: :winker:

I would be up for that. I need some good pictures of my boat at WOT, and of it launching off some wakes.
