Well... I arrived at the boat today..after not being there for about a week.. we had some rain and I wanted to see if there was any rain that had accumulated....So I pulled off the top and seen water all the way into the cuddy.. not much but enough to be higher than the carpet..
so I lifted the hatch and see the water level up as high as the engine.. the bottom pulley was in the water..the oil filter was in the water..

after about 10 mins of runnign the bilge.. I stated the engine to charge the battery so I can continue to run the bilge..

Is this a sign that the bellows were bad..I chated briefly with the mechain on site.. he said most likely.. the bellows.. said I could buy a kit for 150 bucks, and spend another 150 to have them intsall them..

does this seem legit..

I don't want to be taken..
is this something I could do myself..

I guess the water got so high that it spilled into he ski storage area and floated up to the cuddy..

I think you read that wrong or I said it wrong.

For a marina that's cheap !!!! Around here.

I need a shifter belows replaced for a Bravo. I got a quote for mid 1000's !!!! I was told that they'd only do it if they resealed the drive at the same time.

The Bravo was a new Max MAchine Bravo drive just put on !!!!

Fuggers.

And they know me !!!!! Errrr.

dependant upon the demo of the market around the marina.. Im sure where you are your mechanic deals with some very expensive nice machines.. mine... well if it floats.. we are in good shape..haha

Heck tow it here for a southern USA trip, you buy the parts, and for a bottle of Tequila I would do the whole thing. Shift and drive bellows !! :winker:

Actually for the Marina to do it ...$150 sounds cheap enough.
But while they are in there they should do a chitload of other things that they probable will add on to the $150.

If the drive is off check engine alignment.
Check water hose from bellhousing for the drive to transom assy.
Replace the gimble bearing. Dude...if it leaked through the bellows it had to go through the bearing and it's only a matter of time before it goes out.
Yeah the $150 for just the bellows is a good price....but so is an "Earl Schibe" paint job.

I am having my done for 150.00 from a marina and the guy is rplacing my bearing also, I am buying all the parts and he is charging me just to put the stuff in. All bellows shift calbe, and trim senders and gimbal bearing. But this is on a alpha drive.

I just replaced bellows, cables and gimbal bearings on my dads boat this weekend. Twin alphas. We were quoted 1700 with parts. Usually 500 per side is the going rate for labor alone. It was a long 2 days but I finished it last night. Bellow are not an easy job and it take more than a weekend mechanic to do them and a few special tools.

I think I got robbed. I took my boat in for a grinding noise in my bravo 3 and a marina took the outdrive off and found sand near the gimbal bearing. They replaced the gimbal bearing and all the bellows for around 1800. Did I just get it with out any lube
