Just read and see what you think.

I posted the same thing about doing custom machine work for guys and only charging for materials on the TBM site. Im doing this as a favor for fellow boaters as well as helping me learn. I plainly stated I was not doing it to make money!!!!! Well I posted then the next thing I know its deleted. I think hummm it must be a glitch so I post again and what do you know. It gets deleted again.

Im scratching my head wondering if im doing something wrong then I get an email from the forum founder saying.

Greetings,
Your post has been deleted as it should have been posted in the MEMBERS BUSINESS DIRECTORY as it is a solicitation for business. However, only TBM FORUM SUPPORTERS can post in this category, so it had to be deleted as opposed to being moved. Please consider UPGRADING your account to use the full functionality of TEAMBAJAMARINE.COM. Your understanding and cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated.

I responded with " are you kidding me. I clearly stated im not making money just trying to help out fellow boaters and learn at the same time." I recieved the following.

"This is a judgement call on my part and how I see it. Regardless, your post belongs in the MEMBERS BUSINESS DIRECTORY. Please cooperate and do not post this again in the GENERAL FORUM. Thanks. "

Im just disapointed that a forum which was designed and intended to help out fellow boaters has now reached a point where the mighty dollar is more important. I completly understand that they need to pay the bills. So if I get to a point where I am charging money I encourage them to contact me for advertisement. Hey I had actually planned on doing that. However now thats not gonna happen.

Anyways thats my rant.

While I like what your trying to do.....learn while providing a service to others at no cost/profit. Technically you are doing work another payed ADVERTISER could have sold if you had not put your offer out there. I disagree with it being deleted, but I see their point as well.

While I do see your point I have to disagree. Since im in the learning stage I just dont see me having the ability to cut into any paying advertisers profit. I just cant physically make enough right now. Plus im lacking a little bit of tooling which is another reason im doing this. It will give me a good indication what I have and dont have. Nothing teaches you better than setting down for a project and realizing. Da*N I dont have that tool.

Plus lets face it. How many of the advertisers out there do CUSTOM machine work. Yeah most of them sell off the shelf parts. However unless im unaware not many will have you sketch out the idea then try to machine it from scratch.

Maybe they didnt think about it that way. However being that im only trying to help others out while making NO profit. I think they should have spoken to me either via email or in person to decide. Not just sent an email telling me not to post it again unless I wanted to pay.

It just came off as we are not here to help anyone, only to make a buck.

anyways I guess there are always 2 sides and the truth usually lies somewhere in the middle.

I sure will post some pics just as soon as I get some stuff cut.

POST SOME OF YOUR WORK..IF IT IS GOOD ENOUGH PEOPLE WILL COME TO YOU ASKING IF YOU COULD MAKE SOMETHING FOR THEM:bigsmile:

Don't need to advertize if it's "on the side business"

IMHO

I agree with you totally. I just needed some projects to complete first. I dont have access to my boat right now or I could probably find some things to make for it. Plus I thought hey why not try to help a few guys out.

Sounds like corporate rigidity.

Simple ecomonics teaches that competition keeps quality high and price down.

Good luck and give em a run for your money. :D

So I want to clear up one thing that I was incorret about. Blake and I have been emailing back and forth about this matter. He stated the reason for deleting my post was because it was a solitation for business and needed to be in the member business directory section.

Well I thought this meant that I needed to become a paying advertiser like several of the other big name sponsors etc. Now as we all know I do not have a business nore do I have the funds for this. However I was wrong. He only wanted me to pay a yearly subscription of 11.95 to post in the business directory.

So my first thoughts were that this decision was totally based on a money issue. Now that I know its only a 11.95 a year issue im sure thats not the case. So I was wrong on that count.

however this still does not fix a darn thing. He still refuses to post the message in any of the forums. He says that its his decision and rules are rules. Well im sorry but how is this the enforcement of any rule. How many times have we been online and asked one another for help. If I post a message telling a friend I will help rebuild an engine am I breaking the rules? According to the way this has been treated I must be. Because im sure not paying for the machine work on another guys boat but ill gladly offer my help.

Anyways it just sucks because in the end we all lose. Someone will lose out on getting something made for a very low price and ill lose out on the experience.

the end :laugher:
