Was wondering how many of you either trailer you boat or actually have a dock. And if not to personal what it cost you to dock. And if you trailer, about how far do you drive to your favorite ramp.

I trailer mine, just because I like having it at home to clean and get ready instead of lugging everything down a dock. This way I get my adult beverages on without anyone one seeing. Don't get me wrong though I would love to have a dock so that the mrs could just meet there or go down to the boat whenever she'd like. It takes me about 25 mins to get to the ramp about 17 mile trip. No highways just all state rds or county roads. BTW the ramp cost nothing to use, state park.

I have a camp on the lake and a 4 boat position dock about 300yds down from the camp. I dock the boat on the weekends on whenever we are there. I don't keep the boat there as it's on the backside of the lake and no one is around most of the time. I keep the boat at the local marina as its supervised by the State Park and Army Corps Engineers. It's $550 from May-Sep when they drain the lake. I then go to the trailer until it gets too cold.

I currently trailer. I've had slips in the past but didn't find it to be that much more convienent.

The two ramps I use most of the time are about 15 miles away. Gas, food, and beer is all on the way too.

Trailer.

Reasons you mentioned (except for beer) and also we like to go to different lakes whenever we want and it would be a pain to retrieve the boat, go somewhere and then put it back in the water. I don't like the boat to sit in the water all the time anyway for all the normal water damage reasons.

The closest ramp is 26 miles but is free because the reservoir is controlled by the utility co and I am an employee :D :D

On the trailer we can have it ready to go anywhere.

I have a slip.

We used to trailer, but found that on the weekdays we did not use the boat that much.

Our slip is about 2 miles from the wife's work, so it is easy to talk her in to going.

I purchased a Fibersteel lift to keep the boat high and dry.... I will say it is hard to keep it as clean as I would like, but I still pull it out and trailer to Lake Michian, and LOTO a couple times a year.

My slip cost around $1500, it is in a so-so marina on the Mississippi River, we really enjoy it and have made some good friends, it is hard to beat marina life..... but with out the hoist, I would never do it.

I put over 100 hours on the boat and went through 605 gallons of fuel, so we really got some useage this year.

The 292 I just sold was in a boatel/marina, $1950 a year. The 34PC is on a lift in the same marina as it is too large to trailer, $4500 a year which includes unlimited electric and water, 3 short hauls a year, and the best priced fuel on the Chesapeake.

I usually have a slip and trailer, usually we go out well everyday even if its to float around, boat probally spends 60% on trailer other on a slip, comes out every other week if I do leave it in, this year the ramp at the marina should be done so it will sit there until I'm ready which will be nice not having to have it in the driveway in between

Does anyone pass buy a lake to go boating at a differnet one that farther. Where I live I have a state park and ramp about 3 miles away, but I prefer another state park about 17 miles away. The closer lake is smaller and shallower. I'm not one for shallow lakes so I'll go the extra distance to make sure I'm in deep water.

I keep it on the trailer at a local boat club most of the time (its easier to keep clean) and keep it in a slip on some weekends and during holidays. Saves me some money for gas that way. I probably spend $2000 for year round storage. Thats dues for the club and transient slip fees. Plus I am not stuck at one marina for the entire summer.

We have a house on the water and still trailer the boat to our "regular" home where the boat sits indoors. Although we have a dock of our own at the river, I haven't ponied up for a lift yet.....then it may stay outside some during the summer.
