I left Donzi in January to go to work for Jupiter Boats. It's a high end center consoles. They changed plant managers a week ago and said more changes were coming and they were having issues with painting and I never got to paint one boat. I think the owner's son thinks he knows it all and he hired a guy sub'contract to come in and paint. I'm a 25 year master painter and people on here that know me , know I can paint. I'm no Mitcher T but if I could do the custom paint on the Donzis I surely could paint the hull sides of a fish boat blue. By the way, in the march issue of Hot boat I painted the Porsche boat. I didn't pick out the color and the pictures doesn't do the paint justice , but it shows you I have know problem doing high end work. I'm thinking of trying to open a shop. I might have to start with doing small stuff likr motorcycles and small boats. I'll see what comes up.

Good Luck if you do pull the trigger on your own adventure. I give anyone who tries LOTS of credit. I have always worked for someone else, and even when single, never had courage to venture out on my own. Especially now, times are tough all over. I wish you the best.

Thanks guys. I am so tired of working for people that make common sense mistakes. Why would a company want to spend 10 times more money to bring in an outsider before they trid what they have right in front of them. ?

Outsourcing is now becoming the American way unfortunately. Less liability; less $$ for insurance and other benefits; and less "personnel" problems.

Shoot -- Home Depot layed off 700 people from the call center up here right after Thanksgiving. Outsourced to India.

It sucks. Corporate America no longer takes pride in providing for their fellow people... it's all about the might $$$.

I have an interview today at 11... wish me luck!

Open your own Shop.....

Go Down today and File a DBA for a Business name you want and Start your own Business....

The First 18 months are tuff cause more tends to go out then comes in but after that its all BANK ROLL and all your efforts and extra time Pay YOU back...

Dont Look back just go for it..

You guys are the greatest!

I'm not going to give up on Florida yet. I love this beautiful city I live in and to have a waterfront view and a boatslip right outside my door. I wish I had some capital because I think I'm finally ready to do this. Hey Norm, what up. Luv you guys, Rebel.

Just do it! Florida is a very easy state to set up an LLC. Business license, DBA, Sales Tax etc are all very easy and you can do most of it online. You have to take out an add in a paper for your DBA but you can do it in your local business paper real cheap. Your biggest problem may be a hazardous waste license and fees for the paint products and waste. You also will need a Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) which is easy too. There are a lot of little pain in the azz steps but it really is not that difficult.

The number one thing is to get all that crap done and keep good books, the format of your bookkeeping is not as important as having it complete and up to date. The State Department of Revenue guys are worse than the IRS but when they show up (and they can pretty much anytime) if your books are in order and up to date they usually leave you alone after one or two visits.

Right now is the time to do all the little stuff getting set up. The economic downturn should turn around soon and you want to be ready when people start spending again.

Just do it! Take the chance now while you are young enough to enjoy the rewards later.

Rebel, sorry to hear of this. If you do go the route metioned above and start your own shop, I can tell you from experieince that the satisfaction from starting and running your own business is something to feel good about. A little over 20 years ago, married with 1 kid and another in the oven, I lost my job, was living in an apartment, and decided I was going to work for myself and control my own destiny.

I've never looked back since. There have been some togh times, but worth it overall.

Oh Man, Rebel. I'm sorry to hear of your situation. If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know.

My number is 269-795-2228

I really enjoy our visits when I'm in MD. I always look forward to that event.

Good luck, my friend.
