Dad had a boat but didn't use it much.
When I was 21 I went boating for the day with friends.
The next weekend I owned a 1977 Glastron Carlson CVX 18 with a 302 at 188 HP.
Kept that boat for at least 15 years. Stock it did 49 MPH when I sold it it was doing mid 90's.

Grew up on the farm but loved the water.
Bought my first boat at 35 which was a 94 Caravelle 175 with a locked OMC outdrive. After building the drive and running it in the Tennessee river I was convinced it was to small for me and we wanted something that had a much better ride. I will have to post pic later as I can't find it right now. Had it 3 years and sold it to buy my 87 Formula 242SS.
After learning more about offshore equipment I bought my 89 Formula 242LS.

I also grew up on the water. Our family lived less than 5 miles from Lake Michigan, but we did most of our boating on a small inland lake where my grand parents had a trailer at a camp ground. My dad had and still owns a 1968 Starcraft flat bottom run about with a 50 Hp Merc on it. Learned to ski behind that boat, and when I was old enough it was the first boat I learned to drive.

After that I worked at a local marina, and thats when I got into offshore boats. I just never thought I would ever have one.

My first boat was bought in 1997 when I was 27 and it was a 1990 Baja 190DSR. Great little boat for small lakes, but I soon learned that little lake boats was not what I wanted. Next boat was a Baja 260. Much better for the big lake, but still not what we were looking for. We are now happy with a 1988 Baja 280.

Our first little boat.

For me, I've been boating my entire life, Um, that's more than 40 solo years worth, my 1st boat was my Dads old Speedicraft 14 footer, he bought it brand new in 1958 for $1500.00 , and had a 50 hp merc. I gave it back to him after I restored it in 1979, and then I bought a 1964 Cruiser Inc, 25+ footer to restore, my Dad sold the O'l Speedicraft later, and I now wish he or I had kept it.. :( So many memories in that boat that I will never forget. and that is priceless. :)

I got married when I was 20 and my brother-in-law had a ski boat. I really enjoyed being on the water. A couple years later, I found an old 16' Sea Sprite with a Johnson 85 hp. I bought it for $700 and sold it a couple years later for $1250 ! That was in 1989. I`ve had 5 boats since then and a couple Seadoos.

Infinity 18' with Evinrude 115 hp.
Galaxie 19' with Yamaha 245 hp sterndrive (350 Chevy).
Baja Hammer
Sutphen 31'

.... And my current boat - 24' Python. :)

I grew up with water in my veins, but I didn't start boating until I met Jeff in 2000. I love boating so much that it will always be part of my life. :D

Our first boat together was a Sunsation 288... loved that boat! :vcol:

Grow up around boating, my father had a 25ft gradywhite and beach house in southern Delaware. Fishing, crabbing and water skiing every weekend during the summer. ( WHAT A BLAST!!!) Father bought me a 74 16ft CC when I was 16 with an 35 hp Johnson. ( LOVE THAT BOAT)

The first boat I actually bought was a 21ft nova with 302. redid the interior and sold it for a 88 wellcraft 232 XL with 350, redid that interior and bought my 242ls formula with 454.

My wife and kids love going out on the boat for rides and just hang out. Life goes by so fast, and to me this is the one way I can slow things down and enjoy.

:D

My stepfather introduced me to boating when I was 3. He had a 16ft runabout he kept in OC Md. After that I was hooked hard. My stepmother's brother had numerous boats he kept in Solomon's that as a little kid I went out on and helped operate.

Bought my first boat in '88 it was a 17ft trihull noname brand with a 85 Mercury on it that we used for everything. After that it was an upslide to bigger and bigger boats. Let's see 17-20-24-25-35-42-29-42-43-47-50-45. I think that was all the sizes :D

Patti started with a 24 Baja then on to a 41 Sonic then the rest is as follows 42-43-47-50-45. I think I have that right.

Oh yea forgot about the 13ft mini speedboat and the jetski. Still have the jetski but no mini anymore. Finally sold one. Hence under our screen name "1 Down -- 2 To go"
