I bought a new Vortec AirGap RPM intake, but now I have a chance to get a Used Vortec Regular RPM intake for about 100 bucks. I Paid 230 for the airgap. is 130 bucks worth it?
Theres an article out there with a shootout between the Victor and Airgap on a 383 motor 200 Brodix Heads and 2 differant healthy solid rollers. With the smaller Roller it was almost identical power (Peak) Victor had it by a few ponies but the RPM was all over the Victor everywhere else. On the bigger cam the victor made like 9 more HP around 6K vs the RPM. The magazine said the Air Gap was a hands down winner, unless you were pushing some real huge sbc cubic inches and a huge cam.Ryan00TJ said:
I'm running an RPM AirGap on my 385ci and its a great manifold. I'm spinning 5700rpms and it seems to be working well. Great lowend and midrange and instant power combined with the AFR 190cc port. I may be switching to a Vic Jr if it well help on the topend.
In a Corvette, and this is the only reason they where made to begin with...think hood height, but other than that almost everytime it isn't, unless compared to others like it such as the Weiand Excelerators and such.wtfo said:believe it or not, I'm getting great power out of my ($100) torker 2... it is what the engine builder recommended... he said that accordning to his dyno it would make as much horsepower on my 383 (385) as anyything else.
