I am seriously looking at an 02' Donzi 28 zx that has extremely low hours on twin 350 mags. Need to know what types of questions to ask, I know this guy is fairly motivated seller, but don't know why. It is a saltwater boat, I've never even been in saltwater, what can I expect or should I not expect when I go to look at it. It is a broker boat from I think Beave Boats in Ft. Lauderdale.

I was originally looking at new only, but this one just kind of caught my attention.

Thanks in advance

Do you mean this one?????

If so I believe that same boat was for sale on Ebay a few times about a year ago, I think it is the same one because I remember the Condos in the background, that is Boca Bayou, and I was moving down here, and looking to buy a condo in there at the time!!!

That is the exact boat!

This board is great. Any further feedback on the broker would be nice. I wonder why this guy has been trying to sell that boat for a year now?????

That kind of worries me

I dont know anything more about it, or the Broker. Too much $$$$$$ for me, but I was searching for a boat in the area, and home at the same time, and this one Kinda sticks in the Memory. Sweet boat, I would check it out REALLLLLLL good. I am not so sure it is the same guy selling it, but definitely the same boat. If you need someone to go over, and peek at it, I am not the best one for finding flaws, but I can think of another forum member in the area who is Very good with that stuff, if you are serious, we may be able to go take a look for you, it is right around the corner from both of our workplaces.

Listen to Raypanic and do a search for the name. I believe there are/were quit a few people that found he had their boat listed for sale, and it was NEVER for sale. Just the ol' bait and switch to get people in the door. You should be REALLY cautios w/ him!!!!!

This boat Was Definitely for sale, but now that I think about it. It would have been in April 2002, I bought my townhouse in April, and shortly afterwards decided to buy the Cruiser, therefore stopped looking, at least I think I bought the cruiser April/May, maybe Cuda Remembers, since he was the one to receive the Check!!!!!

It may not be a bad thing, may be that the owner was selling privately, if I recall, it had a pretty high reserve on Ebay (it was listed several times), and just now went with the Broker, Definitely try to get more info on the Broker/Boat.

Run away as fast as you can. There are too many reputable dealers out there to even mess with someone like this.
I doubt that boat would even be there when you got there anyway.
Bad news.
Beavboats from what I read on the other forum is a total scam.

Ditto what everyone else is saying. This guy has a history of listing boats for sale that either aren't for sale or aren't his. Pretty sure he just pulls pics of the internet and uses them to lists boats. Usually is asking way to much anyway. :D

you can get a Brand new 2002 with the twin scorpions for less than that. Good boat-fair room. The Scorpions are rated at 370 hp but need hi test gas. This ould be a 60 mph plus with the 300s.

Guys, thanks a lot. By the way, I called him today and he said the guy is a real motivated seller and he said to offer him $70,000 and he would probably take it. It did sound a little fishy, you know, coming down $29,000 before I even asked him about the options and all. I will definately steer the other way on this one for now. Thanks for the offer to check it out anyway for me. I am serious about buying a boat, but I am not liking what I am hearing from the dealers about my boat and $$$ to boot. I was told that the dealer invoice on a new Donzi was $86,000. Does anyone know how much money a dealer is out to make on each deal??? The best price I have been quoted was $94,000, and I'm sure a couple thousand could be knocked off there if I had a check in hand though. I talked with Donzi and their Stalker radar is 71.9 with twin 350 mags. They also told me twin 6.2's does not make much differance at all. What do you all make of that??? Thanks again for all the valuable information.

the 6.2 are 320 hp, come with hyd roller cam and a forged crank. 377 cubic inch versus 350. very torquey motors from mid range up. I have one and it is excellent and very smooth. Check Nelems Marine in Jasper , ALA- a long time Donzi and Formula dealer. Straight shooter and verp on the Donzi line.

this was in the papers
28' DONZI 28ZX, 2000,
twin 350hp Mercruisers, 70 to 80 mph, true speed, incredible hull graphics, CD stereo, tri axle trailer, stored indoors year round, professionally maintained, $69,995. (203) 966-0050 (2X) . New Canaan

Run, don't walk, away from anything to do with "the Beav" - the guy is a well known scam artist. One of his favorite moves is selling boats that he doesn't own, by pulling the picture from another source.

Another trick is the old bait-n-switch - "oh, that boat is sold, but I've got another just like it..." blah blah blah.

There have been numerous posts over at OSO about this guy; at one point, the Beav had a member's boat up for sale on his site. Only problem, the member didn't have a contract or agreement with the Beav, and in fact was NOT selling his boat at all.

Here's some links....

Um, Beav, my boat is NOT for sale

Beav demonstrates his customer skills

BTW, I've talked to this guy myself - he was very evasive, wouldn't give me any info on the boat I called on (basic stuff like engine hours, equipment, etc), told me to "make an offer" then he'd talk to the owner.

IMHO, there's too many boats out there to deal with a jackass like this...
