What kind of wax does everyone use. I like a bright glossy shine. I have been using a Meguiars car wax and its been pretty good but not sure if there is anything better. What will get the nasty water stains out from the bottom of the hull? And what will get light scratches or rub marks from bumpers out. I am very anal when it comes to my boat. I have a payment for 15yrs and want it to look as good for as long as I can. I know there will come a time where I wont care as much but for now its an obsession.

Am I the only one that treats my boat better than my wife? Like before and after every use I clean her up and give her a good rub down. After a good hard ride I check her over to make sure everything is in good working order. The boat that is! :D

Leverage is claimed to be some superb stuff and best of all it is for BOATS.

The automotive blends will not hold up to marine riggors at all. Don't waste your car stuff on the boat because it will not last more than a week and I've heard as little as three days on marine gel coat.

Carnuba based waxes dont hold up as well as polymer based polishes. Zaino, Rejex, Leverage, etc are polymer based. I boat year round and my boat is not only subjectd to salt and lost of sun, but a lot of scrubbing due to fishing. I have been using good old Nu-Finish and have been very happy. Polymer based, lasts a long time, and cheap.

I have been using that new turtle wax ice stuff. Its totally synthetic and seems to hold up well.

they make it in a liquid and paste form. I think the paste may be a little tougher however its a beotch to apply and take off. Once on it seems to really be tough stuff though. I use the past in the beginning of the season and apply the liquid later in the year if i feel its necessary

Leverage is what I use last a long time....as far as bottom stains a buddy of mine uses Mequiers wheel cleaner it is in a purple bottle I believe not as harsh as on/off, just wet the hull spray it on scrub a little and hose off works great from what I am told...follow up with leverage...good luck never hurts to buy some wax here in the speedwake store and give it a try :D :D

Wow lots of choices. So in a nut shell a Polymer wax would be a better choice than a Carnuba. I have been using Carnuba waxes. I also use a spray wax called Tech wax for a quick wax job. Just wanted to know if there was anything better than a car wax or will just about any wax work. I wax my boat alot because it looks good and it makes cleaning so much easier when pulled out of the water. Thanks guys.

Talkin Trash...I also wax my boat a lot, that is why IMO leverage polish is the best easy on easy off, great shine, and makes clean up after use very easy....

I have read on other threads and boards that car wax (Carnuba) is not good for boats gel it will yellow the gel over time.....

Undertaker :D

I use 3M Marine wax (liquid), after a good polishing of course, :winker: it's easy to put on and take off, last years wax lasted almost 2 seasons.......the Meguiars marine wax does'nt even come close to it as far as shine & durability..

For the bottom, I use Muriatic Acid (diluted), it will take off the staining and it wont hurt the Gel-coat.. note; that the dirtier the bottom, the worse the fumes will be, so be careful..

I have read nothing but good about Leverage polishes so Im going to order some Leverage products and get my supporting member status while Im at it.
Thats good. :D Let me use it when you get it.

I would be careful with using Car Wax's. I've heard stories of gel coat turning colors, (Yellow & Pink) from car wax products. I've been using wizards all this year. Goes on & comes off pretty easy. Been thinking about trying some other products that are out there. I've heard good things about leverage products. Zaino Bros. I've heard can be used on boats or cars. I know it works wonders on cars. Haven't tried it on my boat yet.
