Look's great JEFF! Do we have to wait for the Mag to come out before we hear the results????? ( I want blower's so bad)!
yes, sorry you have to wait - it's part of my agreement with the Magazine....

let's just say : I'm smiling :)

ps: one of the coolest things about the whipples is their "bypass" - no blower lope at idle.

so my engines idle nice and smooth just like they did before....

JEFF--- what are you going to do with your intakes?
watching them relax on my workbench along with the fuel pumps I removed - the entire cool fuel system and the water pumps, fuel pressure senders and fuel pressure gauges that were all replaced....

:)

like I said - can't really say - but here's a video karen took last night during some prop testing.

the ending scene shows the engines at 4 grand at the gps speedo at 61 mph and the engines will rev to 5,750 rpm.

fast video

:)

here's another video

Hmm, I'm thinking your engines will be putting out more than 575 horsepower. And there have been plenty of reports of guys blowing up XRs with stock 575 SCs. Either way I hope you don't have any trouble. Those blowers just make an awsome boat that much better. Can't wait to read the article.

where are these reports? I searched and could not find any....

I did a search over on oso because they've been around a few years and figured they'd have "plenty of reports" and this is the only thing I could find:

http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=507567#post507567

Just like my "Letter to the Editor" these are rumors that get started and propagated by the folks that sell upgrade kits or replacement drives in an attempt to discredit Mercruiser's drives.

I would really like to find anyone that can honestly say "I was cruising along and my outdrive just blew up" - in particular a drive that had not been subject to abuse. I absolutely guarantee you that I could have blown up the Bravo drive on my 425HP Sunsation 288 in less than an hour if I started launching the boat and let the prop spin on re-entry.... no problem. Anything that is mechanical will fail if abused - guaranteed.

One of my missions in establishing this forum was to "debunk myths" and from all the empirical data I have been able to find "there are not plenty of reports" of Bravo XR drives failing from HP over 575.

Sorry for the long response but the evidence doesn't support your claim of "plenty of reports".
