Anyone have anything good to say about the 8.1 ltr in the Silverado 2500. Got a guy at work who has one and love the thing.

Yea, wish my 6.0L was an 8.1L. Got no one to blame but me since I custom ordered mine on a dealer alocation. That shoulda-woulda-coulda thing for me is an 8.1L.

Go for it

Good motor Good truck. Work for a GMC dealer and we have little or no issues with either.

Do you see many rear main seals leaking on the 6.0L?

I have 23K miles and my rear main has been leaking for about the last 2K miles. :angry1: Dealer says they will "goodwill" a fix for me but I'm surprised to see this. I drive the truck very little and it is in the garage anytime that it is not driven. From what I understand about that seal design the only way it is supposed to leak is if the plate is misaligned.

Ok tow vehicle is on hold. Tried to trade in a Honda Accord and found that I ain't gonna git chit for it. So my plans are on pause right now. I'm actually looking at maybe just keeping the honda and getting a truck to tow the boat. Nothing special just something to tow it form a to b won't care what it looks like. Any old reliable trucks out there.
