HELLO EVERYONE. FIRST I AM AN OUTBOARD TECH. I DO NOT WORK ON IO'S HOWEVER A CUSTOMER BROUGHT ME A BOAT THAT HAS DRIVE PROBLEMS. IT HAS TWIN 454"S IN IT. THE PROBLEM EXISTS IN A SMALL AUTO TRANSMISSION LOCATED BETWEEN THE ENGINE AND THE DRIVE. I HAVE NEVER SEEN IT BEFORE. I AM NOT A MARINA. I JUST WORK ON BOATS AS A HOBBY. THE MODEL OF THIS TRANS IS M C M-E AND THE SERIAL IS 0016462. IF ANYONE KNOWS SOMEONE WHO CAN FIX OR POINT ME IN A DIRECTION FOR PARTS I WOULD APPREC. MY NAME IS BEN. it is a MERCTRANS. i called tech support and they said it is nla -- no longer available. i got one name of someone who works on them from merc but was hoping i could find someone in the bay area to work on it. florida and michigan is a long way.

Never saw that setup in a boat. does it switch multiple forward gears or just reverse and forward? Why would you use this transmission? Can someone enlighten? Tks.

What exactly is the problem? My buddy has been rebuilding marine trannies for 20 years, along with race car trannies. Im in chicago, if you crate it up and ship it here, he can rebuild it for you. He is very reasonable.

Do they always go behind only TRS drives or are they used in different applications?

Technically,, they go IN FRONT of the TRS drives....
