This is a long shot but...........

Monday i was traveling north on rt54 leaving the Ozarks
when i lost my cockpit cover. I was 1 -5 miles north of Ft. Leonard Wood exit when I was pulled over by a truck driver who said it blew off and landed in the road. i back tracked but didn't find it. I thought someone here might be web surfing and it may come up. Anyway it was purple, for a 29 Baja Outlaw.

Does anyone know of any after market places to buy one? I checked with Baja and they said it would be around 750.00 :freak1:

Any other suggestions as to track it down or is everyone :laugher:

I know this is a little late and it's just my personal opinion but I never tow with a cockpit cover... It's not necessary - the windscreen diverts all air at highway speeds anyway.

best of luck finding it - you never know!

Call these people, they are in Chattanooga, TN and make a lot of covers and canvas tops for people and companies. They are sure to be able to make you one and there is a Baja dealer across the lake they could get a pattern from if they were to need to. it might be worth a try. I am sure they would not be as expensive as Baja.

I know there are a few schools of thought on this one but:

I've towed both with the cover and without, and I found that the boat stays much cleaner inside if I tow with the cover. My situation may be different that yours though because each time I head to the lake, I have a 4 hour tow in Arizona where the dust blows constantly and I find after the long tow there is a layer of dust which clings to vinyl seats and permeates every crack and crevice. When I tow with the cockpit cover the boat is clean when I get to the lake. So I tow with the cover and hope for the best in that it does not blow off.

I would expect to pay 300 - 350 for a custom made cover at a local place. Ask for the special snaps that won't come undone in the wind. Sorry I can't remember what they are callled but they do work and you won't lose your cover.

Shortly after purchasing my Hammer, I lost my cockpit cover on I-35 while traveling to Lake Travis. I too called Baja ($750). I had a very nice replacement made by a local shop here in my city. Color (purple) matched perfect and it is a nice, thick canvas type material (Aqualon is trade name). Cost was $440.
The shop told me that their cover would not blow off while towing. I have towed many, many miles with it on, no problems at all!
I am very pleased. It still looks as good as new, 2 seasons later.
