It turns out that being dyno-ready doesn't mean that you immediately go on the dyno. Ilmor's dynos (yes, plural) are so busy that my engine's appointment is for early on the week of March 29th. The boat's not ready yet, but it will be soon.

Here's Ilmor's really cool fixture for drilling and cutting the transom. It's got eight 14mm hardened drill bushings for drilling the mounting stud holes, and four 1/4" bushings to drill the pilot holes for the holesaws used on the corners of the cut-out itself. It also has slots to enable you to see your centerline, crankshaft height and the actual cut-out pattern itself. There are six small holes to screw it to the transom and hold it in place. Those screw are inside the actual cutout, so there are no holes to patch when you're done. What a time-saver. :a2:

I needed some really small OD trim rings, since the tailpipe/mufflers are going to be 5" OD. I've never really liked the traditional trim rings since they've always looked like just what they are: a stainless ring bolted on top of a rubber ring. These completely enclose the rubber ring. This (and the final fill-and-sand job on the transom) kept me busy over the weekend. I made enough to use both inside and outside the boat. The flourescent lighting kills the color - they are a candy magenta color. Once I get the clear powdercoat on them, they'll be finished.

I cant wait to see that thing out there. Should be a serious runner for sure. Looks great too.

I am Phil with the 29' Kryptonite. The motor is being rebuilt right now, should still be right at 800hp or so 598ci N/A. Like I told Jdub, I'm not looking or expecting to be the fastest single vee out there, I just need to be faster than him.:gunner:
Yes, it was John's from NY. He claims 106mph with the same motor setup. I havent seen that high, fastest I have seen is 102mph. Rock solid at 100mph all day long.

Hey, Phil! That's your boat in post #36, right? Classy-looking - very sharp. Are those 8' beam or 7'?
A friend of mine (Tom Anselmi) had a black/white/red one on Barnegat Bay a few years back. He loved the boat, but had engine issues. He's since moved on to a 38' Donzi.

Yep, that is mine. Blue/Gray paint with white gel. 8.2' beams with a pad bottom, full length lifting strakes. I have seen Tom's boat before, it is on the Chesapeake now, not sure where the owner lives. Apparently it is pushing somewhere around 700hp now. I had right around 800hp before I dropped a valve last summer. Changing over to Hydraulic rollers instead of solids, still hoping for 800hp at 6000rpm. Should be ready soon.

See you guys out there.

Wellllll......

I'm hoping to shake this thing down at Blue Marsh Lake this Sunday. I'll need to have three productive evenings this week and a really good day on Saturday, but things are starting to wrap themselves up with the conversion/install. I'm thinking of using the State Hill ramp because it's usually less busy and more of the lake is visible from that ramp.
