I've had 4 Garmin GPSMAPS units in my last 3 boats with nothing but great performance from the GPS as well as Garmin!

Too bad they discontinued the BlueCharts on disk that could be loaded on a memory chip instead of buying the pre-programmed BlueChart chip. I liked the fact that I could plan a trip on my desktop with a big screen vs doing it on my GPS on the boat.

I still have my disk and use it often but Garmin has discontinued the product. Maybe people were bootlegging the chips. Garmin made a requirement to load the serial number of the GPS before it would copy. I'm sure there were enterprising geeks out there who could get around that little problem and sold them under Garmin's price! I can't think of any other reason they would have dropped the product.

Hi Gil,

I just downloaded the update for my Bluechart and am using it exactly as you describe above. Will this be going by the wayside soon? I agree, making trips on the laptop and then uploading to the the data card.

This 3010C and the GMR21 radar just performed great this past Sunday running back from Georgetown in that weather we had on the Upper Chesapeake . ;)
