hey there i just aquired a really clean 1986 checkmate senator, im looking to do a upgrade with the engine its a mercruiser 5.7l. I have a edelbrock dual pane intake and a holley 600cfm carburetor for it.it runs decent but its original carburetor on it now. however i am wanting to put a cam in it. but i hear alot of mixed reviews the boat has a GLM thru hull exhaust. i hear concerns of water reversion with a camshaft too big. i really want the good sound of a lopy idle but do not want to damage anything.also the boat has the ignition cut off for when your coming out of gear i hear that can be a problem with a cam aswell. just curious what everyones thoughts are and what is recommended. thanks!
