Over the next couple months Wette Vette and myself are going to be doing an assortment of upgrades to my boat and I figured since alot of the Scarab members have 22's that it would be cool to post up progress and do little tech like articles. Heres my 98 22' Scarab.

The boat is going to get custom vinyl graphics, new guages and dash pannels, Stereo install, and extensive engine modifications.

First im doing the guages and dash panels

Here is the old crappy plastic dash panels vs the new panels I had made up and vinyled.

new ones

Heres the panel that goes behind the steering wheel. If you notice I had them open up where the steering shaft goes through so I dont have to take it all apart again on re-assembly. I also had them open up the silent choice switch hole to accept a 2 1/16th guage. I plan on putting my oil temp guage there.

here is the Autometer Marine guages I bought from Teauge Marine, excellent people to deal with by the way. GPS 100 mph speedo and Garmin reciever

I was gonna get the stock red trim rings powdercoated a different color, but after I did a basic mock up, I kinda like them the way they are.

I should have some install pics soon so if anyone has questions, comments or opinions, feel free to post them up.

UNITEK Thanks for the motivation, My dash was cracked also.
I cant wait to see the finish product.
I we thinking about using aluminum with powder coating ??What do you think.
That was my initial idea a few months ago (if you search back you can prolly find the thread) I took the plastic panels to a couple different machine shops and all of them were around $1000 to duplicate the set.. So I wasnt sure what to do.. I ended up taking them to a plastic shop and they remade them for around $350.
So unless you can find someone who can do it cheap then I suggest you do the ABS like me and then get them vinyled :D

Nice, who and what are they made from ? Pics :D
The panel is a stock new one from scarab . Exact match of old one it came with boat guy never installed it . I still will run the black scarab gauges . Also have anodized red cup holders fuel filler and in the future will get steering wheel and hubs to match

Pics Please.
Are you changing the gauges. If so what will you go with.
Im thinking S&Scomp. gauges.
I like Auto meter & Grafig but every older boat I see with the high end stuff the needles are faded. So I figure with the sun in Fla. I can buy 3 sets of S&S for the price of 1 set of Autometer.
