Well, I ended up buying that scarab concept boat on Saturday. It rides real nice, and ran very strong. I will probably end up just painting the bottom unless I can find a used hydro lift. I will post pics of it shortly.

Vehicle Description

1988 Wellcraft Concept/Scarab 23ft. In 1988 wellcraft made a PROTOTYPE boat,for the beginning of the 22ft Scarab. The boat is in good shape,runs great,and is fun to use. It has a Mercruiser 454 with a bravo one outdrive,and thru-hull exhaust. It has a little cabin with places to sit or lie down. It also has a like new custom trailer. The only flaw that is the clear coat on the top cap is peeling and the speedometer doesn't work. Trades possible.. If any questions email address is [email protected]

Don't paint the bottom!! It would be worth it to just pull it out once a month or so and clean it! You'll kill the re-sale value by painting it IMOP.

Congrats on the purchase. I also agree with not painting the bottom. That's a cool boat, don't ruin it with bottom paint. Spend the extra for a lift you'll be glad you did.

On the "other " classifieds. 6000lbs for 3500, if you paint the boat plan on keeping it. Paint will knock off 3500 value. IMHO

My Cobalt had a rear walk through...you will love that feature. It's so much easier to get kids and anyone else back in the boat after swimming! That design WAS way ahead of it's time. Cool boat! Good luck!

Well, I took delivery of it and spent the whole day cleaning it up. I have to tell you that product ON/OFF is incredible, it got the hull looking like new again. I washed the whole boat with Roll-off, and then applied a coat of wax. I cleaned the interior and applied 303 protectant all the vinyl surfaces. Next week I will get to the engine.

I forgot my camera so took pics with my camera phone (before I cleaned it up).

Interesting that people say this concept was the prototype for the 21' excel....they are very different....

The excel is 2' shorter and came with a 350. Interior is setup very different too.
