Just wondering what prop everyone else is running on there foutian? I cracked two blades on my 28 bravo and they are sending me another one. I freind let me barrow his 26 five blade hydro, I love the mid range punch and I can run much more trim. I am all over the rev limiter but am going to see what rpms i turn with the 28 now that the boat is broke in amd fixed. Would like to go to a 28 five blade hydro.

Terry - whatcha running in that 29?

I've got a 1998 29 w/ a 525SC with an aftermarket (smaller) upper pulley (7lbs boost). Love the boat, just haven't got the performance (i.e. top end) that I wanted.

I switched to an IMCO SC upper and 2" shortie and run a Bravo 30 that has been rolled back a bit. The shortie helped the hole shot and gave the boat alot better attitude... but I'm still only reaching 74 - 75mph GPS...

Tried a Hydro 5 blade and 6 blade - planed off easier but lost some on the tope end...

Why do you keep losing blades on the 28B's

Mercury has had a problem with some of the 28 four blade bravos cracking the blade so the dealer says. It ran 82 on the gps speedo on a cooler day at half a tank with me and the wife to be in it.(Cant remeber rpm) With the hydro 26 five blade will run 76 at 5,400 but on the rev limiter. The boat plane better and has much more lift. If the rpms ar close to that 5300 with the 28 I will be ordering a hydro 28 five blade. The boat has a 525 with the its box and a xr drive(sportsman) Any body heard what the new cavation plate is supposed to help due?

Running a Hydromotive

Our 29 Fever, HP500 EFI works best with a 24P Hydromotive. Hits the rev limiter occasionally in cool weather, light on fuel, 2 people. Runs right at 73 GPS. Summer, full of fuel (130 gallons) and 4 people, I consistantly hit 71 on GPS.

I bought a brand new 25P hydromotive last fall and it is too much for my boat for "everyday" use. I only had it on the boat for about 30 minutes. So, if anyone is interested, I have a brand new 25P LH Hydromotive Q-IV still in the box for $300. Let me know if you are interested. :D

Our previous boat, a 1996 27 Fever with carb HP500 would always run 73.6 on GPS, in the summer with a 26P Hydromotive Q-IV. In cooler fall weather, we could consistently hit 75+ on the GPS. All of this was on a lake, so no advantage from current (that can add about 2 mph, depending on the current's speed).

My new 29 with a 575 was tested at Fountain with a 30 RH Bravo 1. Sheet says 82.5 at 5200. I think with a load it is too much and am looking to try a 28. Once that is done and I get some numbers, I will get with throttle up propellers see what they suggest in the hydramotive line.

MEGA SLIP

I have a 2002 with a 500EFI. Best speed was 72 @ 5300. Midrange slip was huge (20% +) but the break even point was 30mph @ 2900. Prop was a 26 RH Bravo1 It takes a while for top end to be reached as speed increases but rpm does not.

I put on a Vortech blower and started out at a 30" RH B1. I can break the 30 loose at any speed but I haven't broken the motor in yet so I don't want to hold it wide open. Break even point actually got worse, now 3200 = 32 mph. 45= 3500 and 55=4000. 76 was at 5200 but was going up

I will try a 32 tomorow but it doesn't seem that pitch is the answer. Mid range speed is almost the same with both props.

Does anyone know what a 5 blade 30" Maximus will do to the mid range?

Thanks,

F

Ran a 27 5 blade Hydramotive today with a fairly light load. 77 mph at 5250. Great out of the hole and great midrange puch compared to a 28 or 30 Bravo 4 blade. Seems to get the stern up sooner and the prop hooks up better in all ranges. Trying tomorrow with a heavier load but this is by far the best prop to date.

I tried the 28 Maximus and it was fantastic in the midrange. MPH was up about 10 mph at the same rpm from about 2500 to 4000 over the 30" Bravo 1. 3500 was 55 mph.

Top speed was nearly the same but there was more possible with the Maximus if I could let it wind up longer. Labbed should be perfect.

Only one problem though, the drive went poof. I am trying to determin if it was the 300 hours, the Vortech or the prop that made it blow.

Still hoping to find a 32 to try this weekend.
