I am sure that people with a lot more knowledge than I will respond but this is my simple explanation. 4 blades gives you more surface area so you get on plane typically faster and have a better cruising speed. A 3 blade prop will take more time to plane again due to decreased surface area pushing or pulling through the water also the 3 blade prop is usually faster but mid range cruise speeds are usually slower. I am no expert but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night! :laugher:
