I originally posted this on another thread, but thought I'd throw it out here as a hypothetical - let's say you've $50K or so spend on a boat. I did a quick search over at that other place in the classifieds, and found almost 70 boats between 45 and 55K. The first link has all of the boats, the others are links to ones I thought were interesting for one reason or another.
So, the question is, what would you do with $50K?

Lots of choices in your price range (guessing that's your range, anyway). And that is only from OSO, not Boat Trader.
Personally, I lean more toward the "not having to slow down" rather than "fastest in perfect conditions" school of thought. With that in mind, here's a few that caught my eye.
Cigarette Bullet
38 Scarab with 200 hours and 540 Bulldogs - and I love the solid color hull
'98 Fever - not much of a beak fan myself, but since you were looking at the other one....
38 Top Gun with 502 Mag EFI's - certainly not going to be the fastest, but will eat the typical Erie slop and ask for seconds - there's no replacement for displacement, whether you're talking cubic inches or hull size!
Hustler 40 - all the comforts of home + 3 502's and full hydraulic steering. Another boat that will handle the rough water.
Meow! 30 Spectre - hey, it's got twins!
'92 336 Formula - all white, and all new interior. IMHO, Formula builds some of the best looking boats out there, and this one already has all of the pastel early 90's crap gone. I'd look very hard at this.... much bigger than a 32 Sun or a 32 Fountain.
Flat deck Scarab 38 - another wave crusher. I could do without the paint, but that could be fixed.
40 Fountain with fresh power and SSM 3 drives - hey, if you like beak boats, better to go big than to go home!
35 Beaker - 1995, HP500's. I'd go with a 35 over a 32 in the Fountain.
36 (Name that must not be spoken) - I believe you get a complimentary cult membership with this particular brand.
31 Sonic with the blower 525's - supposed to be solid motors, and you'll always have two blowers on board!
Cigarette Decathalon - definitely not a boat you see everyday!
And a ton of 30ish Baja's, 29 Powerquests, etc, etc in this size and price range. Might be good to shop around a bit - have fun!
