Alright so I've reading on here for quite a while jsut haven't really jumped in and posted yet.
I've got a 1986 Thompson cuddy cabin. The hull is 18' with a 18" swim platform. I run a 355 with heavily worked 416 casting 305 heads, performer rpm intake, comp xm262h cam, edelbrock 750 carb, thru hull exhaust. So far the boat runs 58-59mph gps at 52-5300rpms depending on load and water condition. That is with a 14 1/4" 21p Michigan SS prop. Don't know which model prop it is. The problem is the boat runs 54-55 at 4800 and only picks a few mph over the next 4-500rpm. I tried a labbed 23 mirage and spun it to 4400rpm(55mph) before it started to walk real bad from lifting the boat too much. I have a 23p laser II that just arrived to try next time out that I'm hoping will still turn decent rpm and get some mph out of this thing.
My question is about the nose cone is will it help me any? It seems the faster I go my slip numbers start to get a lot worse. I happened to win one off of Ebay Canada pretty cheap(nosecone ) last week and it showed up today. Anyone think I should put it on? I'm going to try the new prop next time out. I don't think I can really "try" the nose cone since you epoxy it on though.
Just looking for some suggestions from the experienced.
