A friend of mine is looking at this boat. I don't know anything about them. Are they decent boats? What's it worth?

Gotta add tabs on small boats with small blocks, or your right, they don't plain worth a crap. Well, if you have a prop for more speed vs waterskiing anyway. :bigsmile:DIPSTICK said:If you put 4 adults it doesn't plain for sh!t.
Interesting. But definitely not true for all boats. My Unlimited would hop on plane with 4 people in it at half throttle in about 5 seconds!cfm said:Gotta add tabs on small boats with small blocks, or your right, they don't plain worth a crap. LOL, yeah I guess me and 3 110 lb chicks is a little different! :laugher:cfm said::laugher: :laugher: :laugher:
I meant approx under 280hp.
I forgot about the newer 300-320hp small blocks.
Oh, and I and the 3 others might be a little heavier than you and your three others. It's a northern thing. :laugher: :laugher:
And hull design!cfm said:Torque vs hp.
This is where it is key.
Check how the tabbs had to be mounted on my micro. Even though I laugh, don't laugh too loud. :laugher:
That's what I was thinking too. Not really a "performance boat" but could be fun on inland lakes.SHIP4BRAINS said:My 202 didn't plane out for $hit either...but there aren't many 20' boats in my area that will run 62 mph either.....I think they are a cute little boat...they are a load of fun....very fun to drive..they really carve through corners...fairly cheap to insure...easy to tow...and I think they look cool. THe addition of tabs would be great...the 20ol and 202 islander are great smaller lake boats...
Hey....it all depends on what you want, what you can afford, what you can tow...and what you can store in your garage. I think they are great little boats and well built. If they are looking for something easy to handle ( and apparently new...), and fairly fast.... I say go for it.blackhawk said:That's what I was thinking too. The Baja was the least expensive and slowest of the lot. It also suffered from the worst ride. The Stingray was the bargain of the pack with the best-riding monohull. The real fun began with the big-block V8s. The Velocity upped the top speed ante to 75 mph. Our hands-down favorite, however, was teh Talon with its 550-horse supercharged engine and amazing cat hull.

Testing was conducted under clear weather conditions, temperature 70 degrees, humidity 60 percent. Wind from the north-northwest at 5 mph. Water conditions: light chop. Our test course headings were north-northeast at 30 degrees and south-southwest at 210 degrees. Each boat made three runs in both directions (six runs total).
