The original flushing system is adequate but lacks filling the entire passages full of water when flushing. This is where all the salt crystals gathers up and eventually, corrode through. The MST uses a pulsing action which actually back flushes the entire cavity, sort of like a sonic tooth brush except with water. This breaks up the cystals that are hanging out and flushes them through your exhaust. You'll see the cystals, they are lumps of white goo if your system has accumulated them in your cooling system.
