I love boat racing, but I am not totally up to snuff on the number scheme but I am guessing now that F1 means single motor and F2 means twin motors...which makes my last question a dumb one. Am I correct here??? :xz
 
F1 is a single engine class 24' - 30' feet in length while F2 class is a 30'- 38' twin engine class.

You must run stock sealed Mercruiser power.

You were correct. The F stands for Factory class.

This is a picture of My Father's record run from Miami to New York in 1978. He set the record in a 24' powered by the # 2 # 3 2.4 Mercs. ever produced. Popped the powerhead a few minutes before he arrived in New York.

Held the record until 1988.
