I was looking at the Raymarine A60, I can get it for $620 without the bottomfinder, and $750 with the bottomfinder, anyone have any feedback on this unit??

How about the garmin 478, I like that it is portable, and preloaded, internal antenna. and comes with the mount for both boat and car? I can get the 478 for $724.hap hazzard said:best unit for the $$ on the market today, better than garmin. 750 is a good price w/sounder and 620 w.out is barely above cost. if you get it, you want to get the Navionics Gold + chip for it. they're $200, but you can get $75 back from Navionics by sending in the silver chip that comes with the unit after you buy the gold+.
the raymarine A60 has a flush mount kit for $25 extra.J-Bonz said:HH,
Whats a good flush mount gps in this range?
Jr.
That is basically where mine is mounted, I am going to go with the Garmin 478, from Amazon, $679BGIII said:RCHEVELLE71-
What did you end up with?
I forgot to finish my post - do you think a 5" or 5.5" screen mounted in place of the unused radio controls on the center of my fairing left of the gauges would be a good position for a chartplotter?
the 478 is a good unit, but is on the small size. in a cruiser doing 30 mph it's ok, but when you're running 70, you can only glance at the gps because things come up so quick. the bigger screen allows you to take a quick look and see what needs to be seen where the smaller screen you have to look for a longer amount of time.BGIII said:Why did you decide against Raymarine? I like the A60 and really like the A65. Screen size seems to be what everybody talks about and I am concerned 4" or 5" might be too small in my location. I've never used a chartplotter/gps before, but I want to venture out a bit and I am uncomfortable without one.
I hear ya, but I rarely ever look at it anyway, unless I am trying to navigate into a cove or somewhere to party(ICW is well marked), plus the passenger is my navigator with my 3-man bolster setup, so its their job to keep eyes on screen when we are running hard.hap hazzard said:the 478 is a good unit, but is on the small size. in a cruiser doing 30 mph it's ok, but when you're running 70, you can only glance at the gps because things come up so quick. the bigger screen allows you to take a quick look and see what needs to be seen where the smaller screen you have to look for a longer amount of time.
Just want something more portable, the Ray is a great unit, but not what i am looking for right now.BGIII said:Why did you decide against Raymarine? I like the A60 and really like the A65.
