I bought one of their New GM Marine setups and have not had any issues. (5.7L Vortec) I would however steer away from any of their "Upgraded" engines!!

Good Luck!
Come on now... Thats just a souped up racing cam with aggggressive lobes for more power!! :winker:

I am located about 3 hours from Baltimore not far past the MD/VA line. I would like to get $3000, but you can make an offer and we can go from there if you want.

I did have them do a cam up grade. But there serves was the worst. When i called them and said I had a trouble, They told me do not ever call again with out a lawyer and hung up.

Yeah, kind of like a stepped hull. They put steps in the lobes, for less friction :laugher:

Sorry HP. I'm not making fun of your situation. I think the phuggers outta be flogged, then hung in public for selling that crap

You could check with Jeggs, Summit, etc, and see what they are getting for long blocks. I replaced a 7.4/330 with a ZZ502/502 and all the marine bolts on's easily moved from the 7.4 to the ZZ502.

If you get a crate long block, you'll need to change head gaskets, and change one bypass valve, and pull the other one out, in the oil filter pad. That's about it. Not much to it and everything is brand new :)

All good. That was a funny way to put it. :laugher:
Kid - is it really that simple? Didnt you have to change cams and electrics?

I certainly feel for you HP but I'd like to understand this a bit. I bought 2 longblocks from them last year and they ran excellent with no issues last year. After all they are GM marine, no different than what Merc placed their name on for many years.
Might call Joey Griffin in Washington, North Carolina to see what he can do for you on a rebuild. Top notch shop that specializes in marine builds. At any given time there seems to be a steady steam of merc racing blue bigblocks moving through his shop, many with over 1000 horsepower... but I know he does things closer to stock too. One of the best run shops I've dealt with and by far the best machine work I've ever seen. He won't be the cheapest (nor the most expensive probably), but he's got a great rep and has been in the business for a long time, does outstanding work and is a straight shooter... I've got a small block stroker motor he built for me going in as soon as the bilge paint dries today...

Nope. I ran the ZZ cam for 4 seasons. One season was with the stock Merc exhaust.

The entire 7.4 Merc ignition, and marine starter, was removed from the 7.4/330 over to the ZZ502. Worked out well. The Merc circulating pump, plus sea and fuel pumps were bollted up to the ZZ also.

The only real problem I had was oil temperatures. And I'm sure the reason was because I was using the stock Merc oil lines. Merc SAYS they're 1/2 inch. And maybe the rubber lines are. But the fittings are barely over 3/8. More hp = more heat. IMHO more heat means the oil needs to get through the oil lines unrestricted..... as in larger lines (and fittings) for proper cooling.
I am in the middle of putting together my BBC. Just picked it up yesterday It was born a 330 but now the only thing that is stock is the block, starter fuel-pump. It is now a balanced 496 stroker all forged internals h-beam rods JE pistons, comp cam 4-7swap. DUI ign. eldelbrock air-gap large oval heads with 2.25/1.88 ported and flowed. I just paided 5300.00 yesterday for everything all machine work and everything but assembly. I have switched the oil system over to -12 lines and fittings and larger coolers. The merc stuff is way to small
Try gm crate engine zz454 440hp 500ft.pnds ready to go. I just put a zz383 in my boat and swapped everything over like kidnova did. I have 11 hours on it now, it runs really smooth and with no issues so far.
