Blackhawk to Bravo

Can anyone tell me if the hole size and hole
bolt pattern for the transom is the same from
a Blackhawk to a Bravo.

Also other than a possible messed up x-dimension, what is involved in swapping these drives (blackhawk to a bravo 1)?

Thanks, Chad

i'm pretty sure the blackhawk uses a bravo 3 upper and a bravo transom assembly. oO a bravo will bolt up just fine. the x-dim is goin to be different. Also the boat will hanlde much different as the blackhawk is a surface drive. As i recall it also create TONS of stern lift. Boat that ran the blackhawk were designed with the idea they were going to run that drive so youare prolly goignt o have to run a 4 or 5 blade on a bravo for stern lift.

The blackhawk was a combining of a Bravo 1 upper and a Bravo 3 lower gear case internals, with a 2 inch shorter X demension. All parts in top except the clutch shaft interchange with standard Bravo 1. All lower parts except vertical shaft with Bravo 3. Use your top & Imco 2" short lower. Same X !!!

That shorter X dimension was possible due to the dual props. You may not be able to run that high with a single prop. Only way to tell is trial and error. I agree with puder on the props. Try a Hydromotive Q IV to start.

A Hydromotive prop is larger diameter than a bravo, if you are going to swap drives and go down on your X, its better to start with a smaller prop. Many boats can go up on X 1" for all out speed, but you will sacrifice turning and planing. What kind of boat is this? Twin or single?

Yes the Hydro is larger but I think he can benefit from the stern lift of the Hydro. You can always cut down the diameter if need be.

At some point you can only give a boat so much "tail lift" before the bow is forced down, causing a plowing effect on the wetted surface of the hull. Even Hyromotive will tell you this for a fact. The whole idea is to carry the boat, and have less wetted surface, less drag, more speed. Does this boat have a pad?

yes yes and yes....how many boats were actually set for the b hawks specifically anyways besides the 29 p29 scarab 1996. I am sure there are some others I am just not familiar with...Others were bolted on with the same x dimension and the Bhawk was not such a success to the point they thouht it would be. I remember taking A bhawk off an advantage and the bravos reached the same speed and handled ..well...like a bravo.
When done correctly, the swap will work, but the big question is(which was previously stated) was the boat originally set for bhawks and set properly..
I would bet some simple combo would get you a set up that will work for your aplication without the x beeing totally messed up.
