LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. -- Police say a boat speeding through a Lake George bay ran up on rocks and flew onto a small island, where it lodged in a stand of trees.
Warren County Sheriff's deputies said two people were hurt when the 29-foot Cobalt passed a danger buoy in Harris Bay and ended up on the westernmost of the Happy Family Islands at about 11 p.m. Sunday.
They charged Cheryl Smith, 45, of Queensbury with boating while intoxicated, reckless operation of a vessel and exceeding the 5 mph speed limit.
Smith and her husband, Kent Smith, 47, were both treated at Glens Falls Hospital and released. Two other passengers in the boat were not injured

I'll say it here just like on every other thread when this happens. When will people learn that going fast in a boat at night is not a good idea?

Not to mention that the driver was intoxicated according to the first post. Drunk or stoned driving is stupid as all get out. Doing that at night and going fast, too, puts you on Darwin's list.

Oh well...
I am wondering if the wife took the fall for her husband, for whatever reason ?

Or maybe she was the most sober in the boat and told police she was the driver ?
Doubt if it really make a lot of difference Donnie. Boatload of drunks being stupid and reckless will bring about enough blame for all of them.

Or just the most sober one to drive
Reminds me of a movie I saw several years ago. A car load of college kids were letting their blind friend drive the car. He ran over a fire hydrant and when the cops asked why was a BLIND guy driving ?? The reply was "He was the only one who is sober". :laugher:
cant believe no one hurt beyond whats listed...
wonder what speed it takes to get it where "she " put it.
Harris Bay is where the 2nd stop is for our donzi poker run I give out cards almost at the end before the no wake zone in front of the lake george boat company I think that island is past that , way into the no wake zone by where all the sailboats are moored wonder if they thought they were in sandy bay??? either way too many things to go wrong there speed darkness booze
and i thought i was dumb for hitting a plastic bouy at 430am.
Booze, not speed. The speed is part of the booze in these cases.

It just so happens most accidents at too high of a speed for the conditions the driver was intoxicated also.

You'll never hear about the accidents that happen at idle speed. :winker:
