I dont think I'm gonna make it this year.
yes we may be performing naked cannonballs off the beak again........If I have one that is.
I keep hearing that Canal Day is going to be radicly different this year, with stepped up police,,,overnite stay limits and perhaps even total boat count limits,,anyone else hearing these things?

I've heard a million different things. Some of which was (supposedly) falsely reported by some disgruntled neighbors of the Inn.

From what I am hearing (now) the Coast Guard are reserving the right to enforce a 24 hour anchoring rule (in federal waters) if need be.

They are also supposed to be orchestrating the raft ups to make sure there is adequate ingress/egress.

Some of the LIES I have heard recently include.

1) NO dingys, no one is allowed ashore from the non-docked boats for any reason.
2) The basin will be closed to all boats at 4 AM Thursday morning.
3) NO ONE will be allowed to anchor in the basin over 24 hours.

Some of the recent myths have been debunked by the Chesapeake Inn themselves.

Although,

They are learning from their mistakes (the CG and DNR). I can almost guarantee there will be very few warnings.

PWC traffic will be just about stopped all together, dingys will NEED to have all the required stuff (PFD's, proper capacity, etc).

I've also heard they will be boarding EVERY boat, doing safety checks, looking for any reason to boot you.

Anyone who is planning on going should make sure they have all the placards, flares, extinguishers, PFD's, everything you SHOULD have on board.

I fully expect to see some cool arrests, people learning the hard way. ;)
