Going Green on the Water?

With all the hype about going green or going hybrid for you cars, what is there going to be for our boats. Something tells me we're screwed. At least Diesel RV's can go green right? Maybe even diesel boats, I don't know. But what are they going to do about the big blocks or even the small blocks for boats, and if there just starting to convert cars how long will it take for boats. I have a feeling we're getting the short end of the stick.

Whats your thoughts.

I have heard estimates that if we tapped all the existing oil just in America we would be all set for the next 60 years. So as long as you are willing to pay for petroleum it will be available. No if you are truly concerned about saving the planet you have the wrong hobby ;)
Miss Geico partially uses Biodiesel in their turbines.
Gas in my boat and getting on the water IS GREEN

That is as green as I get.

Hybrids are only for streaching resources and I spend my money on boats. I don't feel that this is the short end. The short end to me would be if boats were banned if they didn't run stinky fuel or some other green agenda.
I'm my opinion going green should be more for heating housing and electrical power, save the oil for transportation applications.

We need to stop using oil to heat our homes and making electricity. Go to nuclear or hydro completely for generating electricity and heat our homes with electrical based heating, be it heat pump or otherwise.

Traditional heat pumps work great in mild winter areas. Geothermal Heat Pumps are incredibly efficient and will deliver heat even in harsh winter areas.
hybrids are hype and nothing else, the replacement cost and waste of resources and disposal pollution caused by the batteries kills any money and/or enviroment they may save. Just another way to fleece the masses.
VW TDI's have been getting 45-50mpg for years now with no hybrid crap required.
I agree with post #5 and #6.

What is the accomplishment of trying to stretch out transportation gas with a hybrid when it is only 38% of fuel use.

60% of use is in the industry such as was mentioned by ghart of electric generation etc etc and that is a larger area to stretch more effectively or even alternatively - nuclear power is perfect.

Boating is green so leave us small percentage alone because there are no gains to be found there IMO.
There isn't any current alternative for powering boats. I'd like to see turbojet engines used more and manufactured in quantities that would get the cost down. I also fully agree with more nuclear use. Nuclear power plants instead of coal, also nuclear powered ocean ships. All of these ships must burn humongous amounts of diesel. And I have also heard of the untapped oil supplies in America.

And that is why it isn't a current alternative ;) . Hybrids aren't much good either. I'll stick with my 2 Mustang GTs a while.
