Going to sea test and pick up the 94 Checkmate 260 tomorrow..Question

We are going to sea test it with check in hand. If all checks out as described we will be bringing her home tomorrow.

Anything we should be looking out for on a Checkmate compared with other boats?

Thanks!

Thanks Eric...

Hope she checks out..
Just the same stuff as any other boat. Something I have noticed on Checkmates is they tend to overlook certain parts in glassing bulkheads, floors, etc. Just check everything over, then check it over again. Don't let the excitement of a new boat rush you.

Depending on how big the check for the Check is, a survey would be in order. Just some of the lessons I learned the hard way...
Good luck hope all goes well. :)
Great looking boat, please tell us how it goes, make sure and post lots more pictures. Whats it got for power?
isnt that still the wood floor era for Checks'?? i would definitly look for ANY softspots int he floor.. IIRC, when you find wet or soft floors, dont be shocked to find the stringers wet too!! It weeps from the wet floor around the fasteners and into the wood of the stringers..
It is a 1994-

454 Mag with about 360 hours..

Really clean..

Good luck with it Sno!

As said before, check for any soft spots on the decking. One other small issue is the sunpad. Check around the hinges well.

Let us know how you make out.
Thanks!

We will be looking for soft spots for sure...

check for slop in the gimbal, if the OD moves around a lot without the steering wheel moving you may have to replace the gimbal ring
whatch for water on the steer arm, if its on the steer arm its the uppper shaft in there quite a job, I missed it with mine thinking it was the bellows, big mistake
Thanks fellas- Good info that I am taking with me.
I like the colors :D :D :D
