Point being, your diligence in maintaining and caring for the boat will go very far when it is time for you to sell the boat.
Unless you were planning a gauge swap in the near future I would just install a new hour meter in the bilge somewhere. In the event you ARE replacing gauges, I would hang on to it just for the heck of it, assuming you haven't run long since it died / changed gauges.
