When I was a kid, and the family went somewhere, and us kids had to wait in the car, we would turn the radio to the rock station. When the parents came back, the first thing my dad would say is "Goddam screamin' n'ger jungle music".
And it would be the Stones or something.
And he would turn it back to country.:angry1:

We started doing it, just to get him piszed off.:laugher:

What did your folks call it when they bitched about 'you yutes' music'?

Sounds exaclty like my father. He would ask me, "how do you listen to this $hit?" then he would turn it off and put on Frankie Valli or Dion.

I remember my buddy Frankie pulled up one day in his new truck. A 2002 GMC Denali, with 22" rims and the stereo bumpin with some rap on. Frankie parks the car, and my dad says,"Frankie, what the F--ck's going on here? I thought snoop dog was gonna get outta that truck" :laugher:

My dad listend to Zeppelin, Cars, Eagles, etc, etc, etc. Huge Steve Miller fan. :D

In the mid 80's when he bought his Scarab III his favorite tape was.....get this.... Def Leppard. :laugher: Wasn't a heavy metal fan but absolutely loved them.

He had to have this 'cranked' for a steady 3-4 years. :laugher:

Not bad for an older dentist 'DUDE'. :laugher: :laugher:

Anyway - it's all his fault I love gret sounding big Db music.

Today...........He's got a newer 1000watt ADS sub at his house. Yup, loves to crank it Up........still !!! :laugher: :laugher:

Weird deal with me and my kid.

I'll listen to anything, depending on my mood; thats what all the controls on the front are for.

I'll drive the Mercury Pimp Cruiser, set the radio to the soul, rythum and blues station (mostly rap, no funk), and crank it, windows down, with the 'Premium Sound' stereo. The kid gets nervous in darker neighborhoods, when I do this...

I'll drive the Silverado, with the stereo cranked to the 'Alternative' station, louder than even he does.

But he listens, now, to what I did when I was his age, for the most part. I tell him he has no clue what it was like growing up in the 60's with red neck parents. :dead:

Back when I was in High School, my Metal band would practice in the basement after school got out. Sometimes the practices would last up until my Dad came home from work. We knew we were actually starting to sound like a real band when my father recognized (through the floor boards) our 20 minute epic version of Alice Cooper's "18".

"Not bad son, I even recognized THAT one!" :laugher:

Nowadays, I usually leave a CD or two in his car while I'm borrowing them for humor factor. The other day, my father was watching the episode of "South Park" where they played a S-L-A-Y-E-R CD in order to disperse the hippie crowd. He called me up the next morning all excited and said: "I got it! I FINALLY got one of the jokes on South Park!!!"

I had to listen to a LOT of old country, and to this day, I STILL like it.

Stepdad played a lite green Fender lead and sang, and I would do the whole second set sittin' on the drummer's knee at about 7. I can respect Johny, and Hank, and Earl and Lester, but Achy Breaky Heart and that kinda stuff just make me puke.

New country is so phony and 'pop', I can't stand it.

....On a good note, my 13 year old loves the same music as me and my wife. We can all ride in piece, enjoying the same music....Korn, Linkin Park, Disturbed.......
Dude - your so lucky. This is the music my wife and I listen too. We are both motorheads also.

Our son (my stepson) listens to girly music and wants nothing to do with anything motorized.

He's definately following his own beat, that's for sure.

Must be tough growing up in my house not being into any things I'm into..........that's for sure. :dead:
