I had a meeting with Wix filters.

A couple weeks ago I had a meeting with a couple guys from Wix. It is one part of my job, to meet with parts manufacturers to discuss new products, recalls, etc...
We got on the subject of Wix racing filters and I mentioned that I run one on my boat. The guy told me that the 2 main differences between a normal replacement oil filter and the racing filter is that the racing filter is designed to flow more gallons per minute and it has a higher burst pressure due to the heavy duty construction. He cautioned that to gain GPM flow the engineers had to give up some filtration quality. He point-blank did not recommend using a racing filter unless it was a race-only boat that gets an oil change after each race.
So .... I went home and changed my oil, using a "regular" Wix filter.
Food for thought . :)

Good Info. The same has been said for air filters for automobiles. The napa filters filter best but with a K&N, it flows better but the filtration is reduced.
Think of all the oil running through your by-pass valve untill the oil temp comes up, and has NO filtration at all..More food for thought..
you said that right, folks dont consider that!!! Good point!!
