A friend of mine is an insurance rep.....and those insurance people around here are not as keen on boats as we would like. So, some times she will ask me some questions at to some claims and my input. But this has come back again to me.
Now this guy tunes in a claim for engine overheating due to the (someone thinks) the impeller failed and needs some major work done.. The she emails me back with this.
Thank’s for your input on the damage to the impeller. My insured faxed over a copy of the denial letter. It states “Our investigation reveals that the impeller was worn out and failed to pump water into the engine causing the engine to overheat resulting in excessive heat build up. The heat build up caused melting of some of the wiring in the engine compartment and the melting of some of the exhaust system.” He had the boat in the XXXXXX Lake at the time the incident happened. The boat is a 1997 Monterey I/O Volvo Pin SX, 350 HP.
Do you think the insured might have grounds to go to the insurance commission? He claims there is approximately $4,000 in damages.
WHAT'S YOUR THOUGHTS????
Thanks
Jim
