I'm offering a $200 bounty!

Ok, here's the deal. I'm in the process of purchasing a boat which is located in the city of North East, MD. and I need to have it transported to the city of Pottsboro, TX(Lake Texoma). The owner has accepted my offer and I will be flying into Baltimore in about two weeks (Nov. 12th-14th) to make sure the boat is what it is supposed to be.

Here's the problem I'm having. I've gotten a couple of quotes on transporting the boat here and the quotes are coming in around the $5,000 range, and this is not acceptable to me. I know some of you fellas have some contacts and I need your help.

This is what I'm offering: I am willing to pay a $200 bounty to the person that can get me the BEST price UNDER $3000. There are some rules here. The transport company MUST be insured and I MUST see a copy of their insurance. The lowest price MUST be confirmed with the transport company in the form of a quote (I will obtain the quote after you relay me the info on the company). I need to know who your contact person is at the company and their phone number (Do not put this on Speedwake...I will get this from you after the ending of the bounty hunt.) The price you submit on this thread must be for securing the boat, transporting the boat and launching into the lake. The boat will not be crane lifted off the truck unless the price is just to good to pass up. I will pay the marina in Maryland for lifting the boat onto the transport truck. They must be able to transport the boat within the next 30 days (the sooner the better.) I would prefer to pay the bounty winner by PayPal, but we can always workout something if you don't use them. The bounty hunt starts now and ends Friday, Nov 5th at 5:00pm CST. You will get your bounty whether I purchase the boat or not......I'm not going to work you for nothing.

Here's the boat's spec's (if you need more, let me know):

1989 Carver 32 Montego 32'(Express Cruiser)
LOA is 36' 9" with pulpit and swim platform.
Beam is 12' 4"
Dry Weight is 12145 LBS.
Bridge clearance is 9'

Thanks and Good Luck!

$5,000 sounds high but the price of fuel has dramatically raised prices and MD is a long way for someone to go and pick it up so that is the reason for the high price....Good luck in your search :)
It's the beam, permit required.

Oops, did'nt even look at the specs. Anything over 8'6" is a pain to move and will be impossible to get it done for $3000...Not saying it won't happen but I would be very suprised if you got it moved for anywhere near $3000.
Was quoted $1830.00 for a 370 Sundancer, beam 12.7 this spring. 156 miles.
Required an escort vehicle because of the width.
With fuel costs what they are 5Ks not bad.

Diesel fuel in our area yesterday 239.9.
Y'all are correct on the fuel cost issue and this is their reasoning for the 5K prices I've gotten....according to the transport companies. I still don't see how it could drive the cost quite that high. Maybe I'm wrong. The company I'm financing the boat through said they could roll the transport fees into the financing, so I may end up going that route, but I'd prefer not to do so if I don't have to.
Ask the seller to pay some of the cost. ;)
How soon do you want it delivered? I needed a boat moved from Ohio to Vegas and paind $1700 this summer, I posted on www.ExpressTransporters.com, filled out the info and I had guys calling with thier quotes. The guy I used was out of NC and I had great service. I'll have to look for his card.
Thanks Velocity. I posted the load on their site, and if I use someone from there, I'll make sure you get the bounty.

RattleSnake, I already have the owner at 15K-25K less than any other same make and model boat on the market. I have no more playing room with him. He has worked well with me so far, so I don't wish to push him too far.

My business services several escort companies. Checked with one and the 5k is in the ballpark. He said to shop it around, but don't be too worried if you don't get a price under 4k. Like Dallas stated, it's the beam and the permit costs not to mention the DIESEL fuel costs. Once you hit the 12' beam mark, your a sittin duck if you try to haul it without the proper permits. He said to watch out for the scammers that will take your cash up front, and once you get pulled over, it's YOUR boat that the local DOT seizes. They simply drive off-----with your cash!!!! Not only see the documents, but make a call to validate that the permit is REAL!!!

Hope the information is of value to you. I trust your boat is.
I paid in full when it was delivered. I had several that were pretty low priced but wanted 1/2 up front and/or had a fuel surcharge that they didn't mention until I asked.
a reputable transporter should never ask for cash up front...Usually if a company does'nt have the cash to pick up your boat and get it to you something is wrong. I never have worried about getting paid because I have a signed contract before the boat is picked up :D

If anyone asks for a "deposit" or any kind of cash up front find another company that has the capital to transport your boat on their dollar....
