I had the boat running on the hose, and revved it up a little to diagnose another problem. Then I noticed the whole boat was vibrating and a loud clacking noise coming from the rear, almost sounds like one of the old 6.2L GM diesels. It goes away when I trim full down, but comes back pretty quickly when trimming up. Yes, I made sure it was in the running range, and not in the "trailer" range. Sounds expensive though. I'm thinking U joints? Good thing I actually bought a clean, low hour boat this time around. :dead:

Do you have exhaust diverters ? I've already burnt up some diverters and they clank/knock like a rod bearing went bad. ? ?

I do, and it did sound kinda like it was coming from those to be honest. However, it doesn't make sense that the noise goes away with the drive full down, and comes on strong as I start triming it up. It vibrates the whole boat.
