Marine Power Corp 500X vs. ZZ502

Marine Power Corporation offers an engine called the
500X. Did any of you ZZ502 guys look at this engine
and company? I did myself a few years ago but I can't
remember much about my research. I did not want to
have to marinize anything myself which kept the ZZ502
off my radar. But now that I want to increase my HP
above the stock numbers of my 502 MPI, I think now
the 500X makes for a strong choice. Is anyone using
this engine in their boat? If so can you give us a
report? If I had the 500X now I would not be thinking
of a head/HP project for the 502 MPI. This of course
would have saved me thousands of dollars.

You can run the ZZ for years stock with out having to marinize anything , with no trouble. Kid nova did and I remember seeing other saying the same thing.

I'm in "idiot proof drop-in mode". I have no place to
work on things myself and my mechanic would have
to do the marinizing and accessories ordering/fit out.
I figured that those costs would quickly add up. A
new drop-in motor with a 2 year warranty and 85hp
more than a 502MPI seems great. I still have not
received any info from MarinePower yet.

Make sure he knows what he is doing. I thought the same thing and trusted someone to know who knew jack chit. I got screwed for a lot more than it cost me to put brand new stock 502s in and they've been running great for the last 2 years.
