Massive Toyota Recall

2434 Views 40 Replies 26 Participants Last post by  aquaforce
Anyone else hear about the massive toyota recall. I heard they are sending every toyota tacoma straight to the crusher. Heard they are trying to be as low key as possible in doing so. Apparently they have extremely weak frames that cause them to litterly fold in half. This is just a local illinois racing website i go to, and where i heard it first from. http://www.chitownracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107580

I will Ask my neighbor he is a lead tech for Toyota.
I would be amazed if what you are reading is true! If somehow the engineering was such that it was weak, by no means would they scrap the entire truck! Another fix would be made.

I suspect it is a hoax.
It is true:

Doesn't look like Toyota is keeping it quiet:

I've read a few Toyota forums and it's amazing how they are praising how Toyota is such a fantastic truck BECAUSE of the frame rusting out. If a Chevy, Dodge or Ford had this identical problem, I wonder how they would be playing this up......

Why isn`t Canada Jeff chiming in ? :winker:
WOW!!

I knew there was a reason I buy American!

:fl8:
huh, actually it's a pretty sweet deal, you get full value of your rusted out, beat to crap Tacoma no matter the mileage or if your the 10th owner.
to compare GM told my brother, who's paint pealed on his firebird 6 months after purchase, they wouldn't cover it because they felt it was due to acid rain

Really, is that what the deal is?

I suspect it will be FMV.

If what you think is true, go out and buy as many of the recalled vehicles you can find and get a full refund!

My guess is if you do that, you'll have a back yard full of junkers! :laugher:
I have a friend that has already turned his in with a bent frame. They gave him like 10k dealer credit and a camery to drive until he finds another truck. Not a bad deal he had over 100k on the truck.

What is the NADA on the truck? Was it around what he was paid?
Better deal than what I got from Ford on an issue I had.

Backed too far into the ramp - ie - the water came 1/2 way up the wheels.

Apparently the vent tube is in the frame behind the wheels and sucked in some water

- 6000km's past warranty expiration and they rudely told me to go fak myself....

Bastages!!!
Drove my Chevy to the levy because the Toyota fell apart. :laugher: :laugher:
Where are they going to be dumping these trucks ?

Does it pertain to 2wd also ?

I wouldn't mind doing up a 2wd extra cab tacoma with a big SBC. Frame mods are required anyway. :D

Prolly stop a few prospective buyers from purchasing the new Tundra... after all... what can one expect from that truck after reading this about the Tacoma?

Same thing happened to my ford after being in a storm. I drove down a flooded road and same vent tube sucked in water. I had to replace the bearings in the rear. :angry1: $$$$$$$$$$
Ghart the 10k was roughly what he paid for the truck. He put a bunch of miles on it and the basically gave him his money back. I don't think the NADA was as high as what he received back. I don't have all the details I just remember him telling me about his Tacoma.
I still dont think you can beat a good ole american truck...... Not sure sure about some of the american made cars but I have had nothing but great luck out of american made trucks
