Are any other members boating on the "Ole Miss" and in what areas ?
I'm usually running between Guttenberg and Lansing Iowa, but plan on making a trip up to Red Wing, Minnesota this summer.

I was at Red Wing and Lake City last year, though not on the water. Couldn't believe how clean the area around Lake City was. Looked like a great place to boat or live. Not sure yet if we're going to go by boat or trailer up there on one of my visits to the Mayo Clinic. Could be difficult parking a boat in Rochester. I'll send an e-mail when I'm coming your way, if its ok. Thanks!

Lake city is a great place to boat, just went to Red wing friday. The lake can have some huge waves on it with the wind blowing. Friday it was blowing pretty good, caught some good air a couple of times.:D

I will be in the Red Wing area. It's only about an hour from where I live.

That's easy, stay in the channel if you want to go to shore, pick a point and go straight in, GENERALLY, wing damn have a bouy at the end of them, and id not, you can normally see the difference in the water. Again, stay in the channel!!!

The river can really phuck with ya, you can bee 100 yards from shore and it can be 1 foot deep one weekend, the next it is 5 feet, then the next, the rocks are showing...so...stay in the channel. Did I mention I hate the river, good thing I love boating!!! :D

Grew up weekends there and still our main hang...
That pic looks like it was taken from Pikes Peak looking upriver! Definetly take a river cruise up to Stillwater or so as it's a great vacation IMO.. We usally do it once a year and do Lacrosse trips a few times a year as well from PDC..

ship if you need any info regarding Marinas, Motels, Bars on the river or anything else ask away as it sems there are a few of us here that know that area well..
Actually if you look at the pic there by that bridge is the Isle Capri Marina where we overnight often.. The Frontier Motel is across the street from there and convienent to the boat ramp, Casino, Food, etc should you not care for staying on the boat.. We have shorepower and the microwave and creature comfort stuff so were always staying on the boat.

Personally I love the river regardless of it's ability to make even the seasoned river boater look like a newbie! Nothing like being able to go and go and go for miles if ya get the urge..

This cut we are going through, you can run within 10 feet of shore at WOT to the left and have plenty of water, but to the right, have to stay 75 feet from shore or will be dragging the drive in the mud...
