I just swapped out my 502, and they gave me 1040 as the final hour count on the old girl. I might have been able to squeeze another season out of it, but while they had it out for other reasons I figured it was as good a time as any.

What's the most hours you have seen on a marine engine? Big block or small...

I've seen some outboards usually used by the government in a twin application with well over 2,000 on them.

Of course there are those outboards that you're lucky to get 100 out of as well....

Orig Merc 260 had over 1000 when it was torn down for more performance. Did not burn any oil, good compression, minor skirt and bore wear.

Buddys 92 502 has over 900 hrs.

It would take 90 years to put on 18000 hours at 200 hours per season . . .

Or, let`s say you have an old boat like mine (1992). That would be 1125 hours per season, or over 3 hours per day if you boated 365 days per year.
