Some of you may remember that in January my truck and boat was burned by an arsonist while parked in front of my house. A little while after that, some kids came forward and told me that another 15 year old had lit the fires. They even recorded him talking about it. The police put together a case but the states attorney isn't taking it as it doesn't contain a signed confession I guess. Still working on some things that might work out though.
I did as much work to the boat myself and was actually surprised how much of the damage was superficial. I used acetone, wet-sanded, and buffed for a week removing about 75% of the damage. I got a few prices to repair what was left and started looking at my options. I decided to list the boat for sale as is for what I thought was fair. Over the last two weeks I have had probably 15 calls on the boat. Yesterday I accepted a full price offer with a deposit. I am very happy with the way it worked out as I wanted to step up in size anyway and now I don't have to deal with this mess any longer. I retrospect I probably could have sold it for more but overall I did quite well and cant complain.
I have a couple of boats I am interested in that I am going to try to see this week. Hopefully there will be a thread posted soon with pics of my new ride.
Here are some pics of the boat after I cleaned her up:

I somewhat remember the story and the follow up . I was just wondering if you had approached the parents of the kids with your information ? Not that that would solve anything ,,but would be interesting to know what the parents had to say bout the kids .

None the less I'm glad to hear the boat cleaned up reasonbly good and you got a fair price for it . Hope you got a little insurance money to help with the money you should have gotten before the mishap .

Happy boat shopping to you .

In most cases the apples don't fall far from the tree! My guess is, the parents somehow would pin the blame on anyone other than their kid. Something like, you should have parked your boat some other place and this wouldn't have happened! :confused1

The authorities are paid by tax paying citizens to protect them from elements like this kid. In this case, they failed miserably!

And I'm the kind of guy that points that out to the authorities. Just last week, I called Governor Charlie Christ here, because I couldn't get an answer about an unemployment case. I figure Charlie's name is at the top of the page, so I keep going up the ladder until I get someone who CAN answer my questions. I'd do the same in this case. Find who the state's attorney boss is, and if he doesn't give you a good answer, call Charlie. Tell him Cuda sent you. :)
