The injection system is a bank to bank system, so as long as the 2 injectors are on the same bank then it doesn't matter what order they are in, they are tied together anyway. If you have one from the left bank tied into the right bank, then you could overload the injector driver and cause a problem. but if 2 were swaped, you would not notice a difference in the way it runs.
I mean the injector plug may be on the wrong injector. I was unsure about #'s 2 and 4.
Someone told me what you said about being a banked firing system......but that diagram shows a different color wires for the same bank of injectors. It's almost like when the bank fires, 2 from one side will fire, and 2 from the other. Correct me if I'm wrong ?
Cyl. 2 and 4 are on separate banks. Merc is trying to stay close to the firing order with the bank system.
1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3 The first 4 are banked then the last 4. I don't think you will notice any performance difference if they were swaped, especially at higher rpm. It may idle a little goofy though.
