Need advise on Safe Vinyl adhesive remover

698 Views 8 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  SSRipper
Can anyone advise me on a safe way to remove the residual adhesive left after removing vinyl Reg. #'s.

Also- any word on Registration sticker removal would be appreciated as well. (They are a B%$&* to get off....hair dryer ain't cuttin it)

Thank you!

OOPS! That's the name of the solvent. Most hardware stores have it. Works good and won't harm the gel.
Goo Gone works great. WalMart carries it in a varity of sprays, gels, etc. A hairdryer works great to pull off the decal, then use the Goo Gone to clean up any left over sticky stuff. I've used WD-40 in a pinch, followed by Glass Cleaner too.
I always had good luck with 3M adheasive remover. Kind of smells like lighter fluid to me but does a great job, and have had no problems with it harming the gel, or any painted surface. I get mine at our local Napa.

Good call on the Goo Gone,

I just did mine last week and did not have Goo Gone with me...I used Wd40 and glass cleaner on one side (worked fine) but used McGuire's step 1 paint cleaner on the other side (also worked great)
3M Adhesive Remover first choice (Auto Body Supply Shop, check yellow pages)
Goo-Gone second choice (Home Depot or Lowes)
2nd the wd-40/ followed by glass cleaner, works every time..
I use lighter fluid then clean with soap and water.
Thanks to all.........#'s and prior Reg. sticker have been removed with new #'s being installed on Weds.
