I'm thrilled to become an official member of Speedwake, and to finally participate as a Baja owner, not just a Baja father!

My name is Bill, and I am in the process of purchasing a 2000 Baja 232 Boss from JTB. The boat should arrive in Southern California (Channel Islands) sometime next week.

A bit about myself ... I've become an "old fart" at 61 and have been married for 40 years. I'm blessed with two wonderful grown children, Chris & Carrie, and have become "Papa" to four special grandchildren, Ethan, Grant, Abigail and Jordan.

My wife and I have been involved in boating since the year we were married! We started with an old "Ladd" wooden inboard with a rumbling Cadillac engine. Spent our time in the Pacific around Long Beach and Marina del Rey. Several years later, we bit-the-bullit and bought a new 20' Ranger V with a Volvo inline-6 and outdrive. Spent about a decade enjoying and raising a family with that boat. In 1990, bought an old 30' Tollycraft cruiser with twin Chrysler 318s and slipped it in Marina del Rey. Enjoyed the "floating condo" life for several years, and in the late 90s, I gave up on the Tolly and bought myselt a little 21" sailboat. Kept it for several years but after realizing that neither my kids nor my wife enjoyed sailing, finally got out of boating!

I was pleased when my son, Chris (chrisf), decided to get himself a boat, especially a cool looking, and very fast Baja! The very first time he took me out on it, I immediately sensed that being back on the water never really lost its appeal. When my wife expressed her enjoyment too, that was it ... I'm getting back on the water.

So here we are, Chris will have his 272 stored in the same marina as my new Baja 232. I would have preferred to get a larger 302 or 342 with twins, but I just can't handle the trailer launching at this age. So I opted for the little 232 because the marina can use its boat hoist for launching and retreival. That works for me ....

I've retired my "Grandpa" login because Chris says that it does not fit with a 65mph "sea rocket". Since my past several boats were named "Impulsive", an accurate description of my personality, I've decided to name the new Baja 232 "Impulsive".

As soon as the boat arrives, I'll be sure to let ya'll know about her maiden voyage in the Pacific.

Needless to say, I can't wait ....

Thanks so much to all of you ....

I'm looking forward to a Southern California "Speedwake Family Reunion" at some point, but in the meantime, I'll certainly keep ya'll posted with action pics and updates when the baby rocket arrives.
