"Lowered cockpit floor with padding"...Did you lower the entire cockpit floor, or just where you stand at the two front bolsters? Looking at the photo of the cockpit, this looks to be the case. Yes?
Got my answer...gracias.

32 Storm:
Yes, we still offer our Pantera 28' model with twin small or big blocks. Here is a picture of a 28' we delivered last year with twin 6.2 MPI - 320 HP small blocks.

Superman:

We lowered the cockpit floor under the 2 front bolsters approximately an additional 6 inches with 1/2 inch padding underneath the Pirelli rubber non skid flooring to absorb the energy from your legs and knees while running out in the ocean in rough water. Being a custom boat manufacture if a customer wanted the entire cockpit floor lowered some more it would need be a problem for us to do.

Here is another powered by a single 725 HP Cobra we delivered last year to our customer in Maryland.

Now this is the way I would go.. Look at all that room to work. :)

Gotta love big singles!!!

JO-PANTERA BOATS What are the speeds of the three different packages posted above. Twin 6.2, Twin 525, Single 750??

Those (3) 28s were delivered in the last 1-2 years before our new twin step bottom that we completed recently on our 28 SR which is approximately 12 % faster.

The twin 6.2 MPI-320 HP boat was running right around 69-70 MPH on GPS. The twin 525 EFI setup pushed the boat in the 93-94 MPH range with incredible acceleration, and the single 725 HP Cobra my customer told me has seen 87-88 MPH on GPS this past Summer on the Chesapeake Bay with a labbed 4 blade prop. To me it is all about rough water handling more than the top speed !!

It will be interesting trying to see more performance #s with the twin step and equal HP. So far we have only tested the new 28 SR with a single 525 EFI package.

Also what size of props with the 6.2 package did you use?

Twin 525's In The 28 Pantera

Whats the highest X-demension that you can get on the 28 transom, with the twin Bravos's mounted flat on the transom? Don't care about the center to center, just the X.

On the twin 6.2 MPI - 320 HP Mercs. with standard bravo 1 drives 1:50 gear ratio I believe the best set up for props were the Rev 4 Merc. props in either a 21' or 23' pitch. These were stock props out of the box.Ran faster than the Bravo 1 4 blade props while back to back testing.

The single 725 HP Cobra we went with a labbed 28' pitch bravo 1 4 blade since the motor would peak at 5700 - 5800 RPM range. This prop we did a few extra tweaks learned from powerboat racing to improve acceleration.

With twin 525 EFI's I think we went with stock 32' pitch Bravo 1 4 blade props. Did not test labbed props.

Now with the new twin step bottom on the Pantera 28 SR pitch has gone up with performance gains right around 12 %.

Superman, It all depends if you are looking to run 4 blade or strictly 5 blade props. Also the transom angle makes a difference on the drive height setup. Anywhere between 17' to 18' on twins and you are good to go. We have gone higher on our 36' model with twin step bottom but strictly 5 blade props with notch transom. There are other variables with drive heights like step bottom or a full deep v bottom. Cabin or no cabin, etc. etc.

Is an 18 3/4" X-dimension possible, without getting into the rubrail?

No problem on the rubrail but a modification to the engine hatch would possibly need to be made. Why would you want to go that high anyway ? what hull are you talking about ?
