New Prop for my new boat?

I need a new propeller for my new boat. I do not know the size or pitch, 3 blade or 4. The boat is a 1998 Baja 232 Islander with 7.4L V8 and Bravo 1 outdrive. I just purchased to boat with no prop on it.
Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.

I would think a 21p or a 23p mirage plus would be a good place to start, or maybe a 4 blade 22p bravo 1. I also live in Muskegon and have a 23p mirage plus on my 22' powerquest. my boat weighs 3300 lbs and has a 385 hp 454 mpi magnum and it works great. 74.5 mph on gps. How much does your boat weigh, and what horsepower 454 do you have? That makes a big differance. I would get ahold of Throttle-up.com and ask them. They are great and helped me out with all my questions.

It's in the microboat section under JJ Quest post. I bought it from him last fall. He clocked it at almost 73 mph. I don't know maybe our gps's are screwed up or something? Engine is all stock with a hardin marine flame arrestor and straight thru exhaust no baffles. No, I'm not trying to be a smart @ss about the gps statement.

Might want to check your equipment. 23P at 5700 RPMs with 10% slip would get you to around 74.4'ish. Again that's at 5700 Rs.

At 5100 RPM with 0 (zero) slip you'd be at about 74 MPH. No such thing as 0% slip, especially with a 3 blade.

I have a 2000 Baja Islander 212 with the 7.4L (310hp) Bravo 1 drive. The ratio of my bravo 1 is 1.50. My boat came with a 23p Mirage plus 3 bladed prop. It was a good prop but would not let me get into WOT RPM range of 4400-4600. I think the most I got after trimming was 4200 rpm. I bought a 4 bladed 22p stilletto prop, as we spend most of time pulling tubes, and wake boards. This prop gave me better holeshots, allowed me to reach 4400 rpm, and I got the same speed as the 23p three bladed prop. (58 MPH) I really don't care how fast my boat goes, as I said, I spend most of the time pulling tubes around 22 mph, 2200 rpm. When I am cruising with the wife and kids I set about 3200 rpm. I'm considering buying the same prop in a 20p and see what that does for my holeshot. I also thought it might be easier on the engine with all the starts and stops I make. I bought my prop at Dan's discount prop on the internet, cheapest I found.

I would think the 23p Mirage would be a good prop, but you may need to tune it to get your RPMs up... May want to try a Bravo and the Hydromotive as well...

21p REV4 4 blade prop. mirage plus has a crappy hole shot
A 4 blade prop is slower on top end on a boat with a deep drive. I have been running mirage props and I have never had a problem getting out of the hole. If all you do is tube and ski a 20 pitch 4 blade prop may work for you.

Get youself a cheap 21p 3 blade alum...slap it on and post your result's...In the mean time make sure your tach is within 100 rpm..That's a start. Result's aka at WOT what is your rpm....if you have a gps unit that would be nice..postng a gps verifed speed

Why would he get a cheap aluminum prop? That wont give him any solid info that he needs for a good stainless. Aluminum reacts sooo much different than a stainless in every way.
