I'm glad you got out. The sun peaked through a few times around here today but not much, it was sprinkling this morning around here. I did see the temp at 71 in the garage this afternoon. It looks like we're heading back to the 80's next week. I already have plans to get down to G.H. with a few local Muskegon boaters next weekend.
Coldest July on record. I thought that I would see a college football game on Saturday if I would have turned on the TV. Yesterday ended nice. If I lived closer to the coast I would have went out for a Sunday Night cruise. 10 day forecast isn't looking too much better. Hopefully better for Coast Guard.

This was the first saturday that we did not boat because of weather. We could have but it would have been sweatshirt material during parts of the day. Sure it has not been mid eighties everyday but mid to upper seventies in the sun gets pretty hot quick.

I think the weather has been great this summer. You need to start dragging the boat out here. It is always sunny and perfect by the lake shore near GH. You can always see the storm clouds toward GR.

Its funny cuz allot of people wont come out to the boats because they say the weather is crap. Then they see the pics from a perfect weekend.

I have seen this boat many moons ago on lake Mac and i think it was once owned by one of the Bosgraff's have you looked at her yet and did it have surface drives .
I called on it but no response from the seller, I decided not to pursue it.
I have enough stuff going on right now, and little time for what I have. I just thought it might be a good deal?

Todd,
Your glass is aways half full, isn't it! Or maybe your Cig's tank is half full! LOL!

The weather will get better, it has to! Just in time for Coast Guard Festival!

raizor - that Sonic was out of Parkside Marina in Holland for many years ...late 80's-90's. ( The only marina around these parts that sold CAM 2 race fuel ) Was owned by Scott B. for many years. Originally all red with big white block letters on the sides and was named "SOO BAD". Think it was orig. purchased by CEO of Budwiser and ran out of the Caymen Islands. 511 or 588 Hawk Power w/ Kamma drives. Painted white in the 90's and as I remember injected motors were added and the cabin stripped out to reduce weight. Cool boat back in its day.

Was in GH on Sat. by land but not many boats out. Been doing a makeover on a cottage in South Haven all month and have seen a ton of hot boats in and out of the Municipal. Anyone see those water spouts on Lake Mi. Sun. Morn.?

Todd,
At least fuel costs are down from last year. I paid $2.45 last night on my way out to GH, what is the price of marina fuel right now?

OK...am I missing something?

Last night we were heading in from the lake passing by the boardwalk in Grand Haven, and a PWC w/two people on it blew by me putting up a big wake. I told them to slow down, and they said something in return but I couldn't hear them. They were out of sight and heading for Spring Lake or the river before I got past the power plant.

Is there any reason why PWC's get to go faster than boats? I don't think so, but maybe I am wrong. Any input?

i think we paid around $60 bucks for 20 gals a couple of weeks ago. not real sure sheri paid for it. $3ish per gal. they didn't sell 93 octane. mine sits on the trailer in a storage building. so i pull it to the gas station to fillup.
btw the kids and i where in grand haven last night also. what where you doing ?

I spent Tuesday in Pentwater working on a cottage on Lake Michigan. It was beautiful and I got the itch to get the boat out. So, I made a mad dash home, unhooked the cargo trailer and hooked up the boat. As soon as my wife got home, we headed to the lake. Spent some time out on Lk MI (mile out from North Shore) and then tied up at the boardwalk so the kids could get ice cream. It wasn't that busy probably because of the weather, the lake was smooth and we didn't get rain on. Hopefully the weather changes soon!

Regarding the PWC's. I agree! MOST of them don't think about anyone but themselves.

i think it's about time to be thinking weeeeekend. this should be a busy week next week. lots of things going on in gh. sheri and the kids are already there. sheri will be working from the cottage for the next couple of weeks. i will be driving back and forth (lucky me). of course coast guard fest starts tomorrow. here is a link to the schedule. www.coastguardfest.org . on saturday the ultimate skimfest on the beach. we were watching some guys last weekend and they are pretty darn good. there's another on washington st on sunday. i have to come back to town saturday afternoon for a funeral (rip rick) . we will be back out saturday nite. hope to get the boat out sunday and go up to dockers.

It looks like Sunday is the only day I can get out now. I am planning on heading down to G.H. around noon from Muskegon. I will probably go down and hang out in Hanky.
I just made up new bunks for my trailer and put one on tonight. I'll finish the rest tomorrow night. The boat is all cleaned up and filled up, I'm ready to rock.

Went to the festival in saugatuk. Left sat. about noon, it was 4-6's the all the way, they were coming from every direction. I got lucky and a 60+ persing was passing me so I jumped behind him and had a decent ride.

The ride back sunday was worse 4-6's but white capping steep and tight waves. About every 20 waves were a couple 8 footers. I was able to run to port sheldon running the troughs and kinda quartering them. After holland the wind was changing and we were running straight into them. The girls were getting very scared so I had a friend bring my trailer. I did'nt feel like taking them over the bow for an hour to get to GH. At just over an idle the waves would drop out from under the boat and you would pearce the the next one. I was at least able to run 40-50mph a few miles north of holland.

Due to waves coming over the bows and some broken parts all the boats we were with (mostly cruisers over 40' )did the safe thing and stopped in holland and hung out all day and came back in the late evening when the waves went down.

Saugybutt was a riot! The fireworks and boat parade were great as usual and the party there is always outta control. Hanky must have been a gost town because most everyone was down there.

By the way...cops there are awesome!!!!!!!!!!

I idled by a cop about 10-15 feet from his side with the exhaust open. They knodded and said nice boat.

I could not believe it. GH should take note on how to keep tourist coming to town rather than turning them away. They have been good this year but...

I didn't get out at all over the weekend. I went out tonight for a few hours and we got caught in the rain, I just wanted to take my friends from Kansas City for a nice little cruise. Muskegon lake was nice but the Big lake had 4+ footers, way to much for my little boat to handle. It was fun tonight and my buddies little 4 year old had a blast. I have some cleaning to do after being caught in the rain, but it was well worth it.
