I picked up a 99 Powerquest 270 Laser a few months ago. So far it's been a great boat. Anyone else have one or have any experience / knowledge about these boats.(specs, factory info, etx.) Thanks in advance! :winker:

:D I am on my second Powerquest, and love em. High quality, great resale-in our area anyway. Which engine and what speed do you get? I was so confident about my last PQ, we took it straight across Lake Michigan from South Haven to Chicago. Search CROSSED LAKE MICHIGAN in the forums and check it out. What else do you want to know? Thanks for the reply KS!

It has the 454 merc-385hp. It runs a solid 60mph on gps with a Four blade prop. It also came with the factory three blade, which I haven't tried yet. I went on Powerquest website and since they don't make the 270 anymore, I couldn't get any info or specs. I was wondering if someone had a old factory sales book or review? I did a search on 270 laser and didn't come up with much. How does it compare to the 260 and 280?

Which PQ's did you own?

My last boat, which I sold this fall, was a 94 PQ 257 Legend, 454 mag carb motor. This boat is built like a tank. Rated at 350hp it gps'd at 57 mph with a Mirage Plus 21 pitch. I have rafted off of a 270 Laser, and the boat looks identical to mine, except a foot longer. I will check when i get home tonight, I may have a sale flyer for your boat that I can scan in and email you. The boat we just purchased is a 1993 PQ 290 enticer with twin 300hp 454's. Only ran it once and brought it home for the winter. Later, KS :chinese:

Centerline - 27' 1"
Weight - 4800 lbs
speed w/502 mag - 61.3 mph @5000
21" mirage prop 1:5:1 Bravo one
price in March '95 $60,300 :smile1:
could be had with twin 350's (62mph)

Great boat, discontinued due to the popularity of the 257/260 model and 290. The 260 is PQ's most popular model (sales), at least it was. I think 99 was it's last year.

Hope it helps.

That would be great! Do you have any pics of your 257 /290 I'd like to see them also. I moved from the Chicago area about a year ago, now am in Cape Coral Florida. I've boated Lake Michigan and the chain of lakes since I was a kid. Great boating up there. I bought the Laser in Michigan and hauled it back to Florida. If you get the itch to run your Enticer this winter, I have a extra boat slip you could use. It's 80 and sunny today :D
Thanks!

Great to here good things about PQ's. I really like the Laser a lot. I have put over 30 hours on it so far and it's been awesome.
My last boat was a 211 Liberator I ran it for 7 years, it was also a great boat. It served me well and I do miss the my Liby.

Man DT, the weather sounds a little better than ours-haha. Sorry, but the sales flyer I have must be newer, it does not have the Laser in it. I think it is from 2000. Sure wish I could take you up on the slip offer, just won't have the time. I would probably run into a snow storm on the way home. Ever pulled a trailer with surge brakes on the snow, NOT PRETTY. Hope you like the pictures. KS :pirate:

Thanks for the pics. They both look great. Sure you don't want to do a little winter boating. :D
When I flew up to Michigan to look for a freshwater boat. I took a tour at Powerquest in Holland. It was really cool. I looked at a few 280 Silencers and a couple 270 Laser. The 270 I bought was like brand new and was much nicer than any of the others I looked at. I purchased it from the original owner and he had stored the boat indoors since new. It had low hours and lots of the options I wanted. I had been looking for over year before I bought. I looked at fountain, formula, sonic, velocity, etx. For the age, money, and quality it was the best deal in my price range. Like I said earlier I really like the boat, just wanted to learn a little more about it.
